I know I will be flamed for this by all the people who say "If it doesnt make your car go faster it's rice"...I dont care:D . I think the yellow caps on the coolent, power steering, washer fluid etc. WERE ABSOLUTELY UGLY. I hated them and decided to paint them a color tha matched my short ram intake. So I went ahead and drove down to GI Joes and bought some "metal cast" or fake metal looking paint. I had a few problems with the plastic not accepting the paint but once I sanded them a little bit it went great. I also did the electronic cover on the passenger side and the pulley/alternator cover(dont know what its called) It looks good I think. I know this doesnt add horsepower, so some will criticize but I really didnt like that yellow plastic look. Tell me your opinions.

The intercooler isnt beat up, its my camera, a 6 year old sony digital, one of the first ones, its really bad. I got the braided hose covers and GIJoes as well. I had to cut and install those, It was a pain in the A$$ to tell you the truth. Thanks for the compliment.

I'd say it looks good. I would say this isn't rice because you didn't spend tons on money on something totally worthless.

Well, maybe it's a little rice, but I think it still looks good. ;)

I dont think there is anything wrong in making your car look better. Its yours and you do what you want to. Don't let others tell you its 'lame' or 'rice'. If you like it, do it, its not their car :)

Exactly, it looks good. I'd do it to my car.

It would be cool if you painted the plastic cover that spans over the front of the motor... I think it coveres the timing belt and stuff...

Looks good.

And I agree, it's your car. Do what you want to it. If someone doesn't like it, who cares? They aren't the ones driving it every day.

I used that color because it matched my short ram really well.:)

Yeah I see what you were going for. It just looks a little gaudy IMO, plus I think it contrasts too much with your silver paint... Think the color might look better on a black car. But the accents you did match very well.

yeah the intake manifold, did you just turn it around, or is it another piece intirely.?

TALK ABOUT BEING SHOWN UP!!! Im j/k. The piping from your intercooler looks HUGE. Especially the one closest to the person taking the picture. Is it bigger than normal fmic piping? BTW I will paint those yellow caps for you if you want!;)

It's possible to flip around stock intake manifolds. You have to move the alternator and a few other things but it's not impossible. It really helps shorten the distance of piping needed for a FMIC.

BTW, Alex I think you'll need a roof vent if you don't want to melt in that black car with no A/C :D

I think it looks good. The only question i have is will the paint hold up to the heat and cracking. I have painted plastic before not on my wrx but the wear and tear on the paint is the question i have. I guess time will tell how it holds up. because the last thing i would want on my car is the paint to start coming off and seeing the yellow underneith. But i like it, it dresses it up.

I painted my calipers blue on my wrx. I was tired of cleaning my car and the calipers looking milky white. So i bought some caliper paint called G2 and i like it alot better.

good luck with it

I llove your color choice , it's my personal favorite also.
I used duplicolor's high heat ceramic header paint and fr one year it has held up perfectly.
You , just like me , to find the time to take off the belt cover and do that too just like boloheadrat suggested.
Now if you have 40 buckarooos handy Ravspec has a blue anodized radiator sgroud in the vendor's forum , that would seriously give me mucho envy!
She's yours, so do with her what you will!
Wish I could find a picture of mine...that would get the rice police off of your back!:D

It is supposed to. It is heat rated up to 500 degrees farenheit and is specifically designed for engines. At least i hope it does :)

No sign of problems due to the plastic being flexible? Did you use a primer? Or just sand the hell out of it?

Sanding the hell out of them with 200 grit, then 800 grit. The base coat was 3 layers thick. And it cured surprisingly well. We will see though.

move back one piece of black plastic and that's what he's talkin about. the timing chain cover... all the belts are in front of it. right under that pretty radiator hose
