Does anyone know if the FXT and STi 2.5 Blocks are the same. Does the FXT have variable valve timing? Price on FXT short block? Does FXT have forged internals? I've heard you need a thicker head gasket to use the STi block with WRX heads. Where do you get the head gasket? I-speed replaces the pistons for $1000 extra to lower CR. What is the advantage of that over thicker head gasket? I'm really interested in 2.5 swap but want to keep it as reasonably priced as possible. Plan on RA gears too. I think for $3000 I can purchase both. Injectors, VF22, Fuel pump, $2400 more. I already have TB and UP. Do block install myself, $700 for trans labor and it should be fast. That's less expensive that just a 6spd conversion. Sound Feasible?

Semi-closed-deck block, heads, and all internal parts are identical. Same variable valve timing (intake only, on both F-XT and STi), same compression ratio, same cam profiles, same sodium-cooled exhaust valves, the works.

Differences include the turbocharger, ECU, exhaust system, and (according to some) the intake manifold.
