Some folks have mentioned that it might be possible to get RE540 semi-slicks into the US. Can anyone put me in contact with someone able to do this and possibly give me an idea of the costs involved? I do wonder if this is something a Bridgestone dealer might be able to "special order" or if DOT legality issues might get in the way of that.
Any information would be appreciated.

Talk to Adam at Z1
I asked him a couple weeks ago to get me a price on these in 245/40-17 and the price was over $350 per tire I believe and that was for the S compound.
Advan A048 were I think around $320 for the same size.
Currently the only competition tire available in these sizes in the US now is a Hoosier. I want a little more durability than that.
Either one of these tires would last either 1 or 2 track days if you were to use them for that.
Unless Falken comes out with something in this size soon, I'll probably go with A032R in 235/40 as I haven't been too impressed with the performance of the Ecsta V700 unshaved and I plan to drive these on the street as well as auto-x and track.
If someone could get those BS's here for around $220-250 I'd probably buy some.
