12/29/03 - EDIT: new (but not the best quality) pictures are on page 2 of this thread :)

happy holidays!

2004 is upon us which means that everyone will need new safety check stickers (unless your car was bought new this year and has the 2-year safety check :). anyhow, i had a bunch of safety check sticker plates made for the MINI gang and wanted to see if anyone here wanted one.

details:
- handmade from stainless steel and can bolt on using 2 or 4 screws (not aluminum like the ones they sell at many car/aftermarket stores).
- i have plates that can hold 2 or 4 stickers, for those with recon.

this is what the 2-sticker plate looks like:
backside:

front:

this isn't the plate i'm selling but the picture gives you an idea of how nice the stainless steel is :) (originally, the plates were made like this one but it made the license plate uneven in thickness so we extended the plate and made it look like the current design)
http://www.bubble-bliss.com/holder2

in can bolt on using any of the 4 holes. picture of the finished product:
http://www.bubble-bliss.com/holder3

cost is $15 for the 2-sticker holder and $20 for the 4-sticker holder. i will try to take a picture of the 4-sticker holder on b_drift's car sometime this week :)

i gotta say i bought one of these from t and alot of thought went into the design of this holder. its definitely worth the $15. it fits great on my car and is top quality.

hey t, see you are also selling your other MINI. thats a great price considering the low miles and options you have on it. glad to see your postings on this site. does that mean a pink STi is coming soon? ;)

omg, i totally forgot about putting the pics up with with christmas and everything! i do have plates for everyone who has replied to me via PM or post. i replied to everyone who PM'd me so i dunno why the messages didnt go through?

anyhow, just in case, please email me at: minigroupbuys@hotmail.com and i'll get back to you that way. i will most likely have to meet people individually as it will probably be difficult to coordinate 10+ people.

thanks!

costs as much as a new safety inspection, so depends on where you take your car. you might be able to peel the stickers off your bumper if you do it really carefully....that way, you can save a little bit of money.

i believe that the only way you can get a "replacement" sticker is if you do another safety inspection which will cost you money (between $10-15 normally at most gas stations).

finally, i have pictures of the actual thing...but i took them at 9:30 in the evening which probably wasnt the best idea. these night pictures dont do the sticker holders justice but they'll give you an idea of how they look on the car :)

please go back to the first post in this thread to see the shine and quality of the sticker holders :)!

(will try to take a new set of pics in the day)

this is what the 2-sticker plate looks like:

on the car:

on the car w/ the license plate on (that bright line you see through the holder is the fluorescent light that i'm trying to adjust to fix the lighting -- it didnt work :(

here's the 4-sticker holder, which has room for stickers on both sides of the license plate:

if you really want to save it you can do the thief style of removal. apply clear tape over the sticker and use a dull razor blade to scrape off the sticker. i've never done this myself but i've seen people do this to salvage their sticker. the tape keeps the sticker from ripping.

Yeah, thats usually how it's done. I had a little trouble with my sticker stretching using the clear tape method though. A friend of mine said that aluminum tape works better, but for me, it's hard to see if i'm cutting through the sticker or slicing under the sticker, which which is what I should be doing.

Oh yeah, just take it nice and slow when you've applied the sticker to the new place and are peeling off the clear tape. The safety check sticker has another security feature when the ink or material used for the image easily peels off and sticks to the clear tape.

These plates are definately worth the price. They look better than the plates you can get almost anywhere, you don't have to worry about drilling into your bumper, and you can always use hex head screws as a theft deterrent! Thanks mini-t! ;)

I am insterested but just curious if anyone know if is legal to have your safty check going top and bottom (just like the way on the picture). If is ok I will pick up one for sure cuz I hate my safety check on my bumper.

technically it's illegal to put the safety sticker anywhere else but on your bumpers passenger side.
