Hey guys! I'm in the process of purchasing a used WRX. The 2002 WRX has 27589 mi on it and they are selling it for $21995. I'm assuming this is too high of a price. What price would you guys buy this one for? TIA!
BTW, a Toyota dealer is selling this one, and at http://www.kbb.com, they say it should retail at $22995.

Remember that when a dealership has an asking price for a car, you can usually pay much lower for it. $22k for a used '02 with nearly 30k miles? That's much to high. You could nearly get a used one for that, so they know you're going to talk them down. My suggestion would be to try to get them down to $19,500, and if they don't want to budge, then get a new one, or a new '02 with less than 50 miles on it for $22,000. You can find them for that price. Good luck. Don't let car dealers jerk you around :)

That sounds like way to much for a an 02 with that many miles. Sorry but the value of a car drops the most in the first year. You could probably get a 02 leftover for that price. The only way Iwould pay that much is if it was fully loaded or modded and you knew it was taken care of.
You could find cars on ebay or autotrader for less with less miles.

Ebay has some nice cars, but pay attention to two things when used car shopping online:
1. You can't sit in, or walk around the car to check it out. The car may be more damaged than the pictures show.
2. Check the title of the car. I have seen many WRXs on ebay with "Other", or rebuilt title due to accidents.
I would find a new '02 leftover and tell the dealership you'll give them $22k for it. Make sure to tell them you can get the car elsewhere for that price, but you want to keep your business "local" ;)

Yup, that's what I'm planning to do this weekend, try to get the 02 get down as low as I can, I *want* to get it as close to $20k as possible, don't know though. =\
