i'm thinkin bout puttin some stuff to STi
but i wanna keep stock turbo
i'm thinkin about gettin up and down pipe, exhaust, maybe cold air intake(i live in Seattle WA so this might be a bad idea), and maybe
what brand makes the best up&down pipe? HKS?
what brand makes the best exhaust that is not too loud but not too quite?? 5zigen?? HKS??
o btw i'll be gettin tein S tec springs for my baby
so help me out yall

my list for when i get my STi:

Blitz SUS Intake
JIC Ti Cat-Back Exhaust
still up in the air about up/down pipes(maybe God Speed or ?)
TEIN Flex Coilovers w/ EDFC :)
20% Tint
A damn radio :o

i have a question for tein EDFC...
can you put that in stock STi's coilovers or not??
cause i dont have 2G to spend on suspension yet

Not they will not work with the stock STi suspension. The STi suspension isn't coilovers either. They are just stiffer (lowering) springs with better shocks/struts.

yup they wont fit on the Stock STi suspension because on TEIN coilovers...there are special pillowball mounts and with TEIN coilovers theres and adjusment dial that lets you go softer or stiffer....the EDFC goes over that dial and lets you control it from the cockpit

you can do a decent suspension for much less than 2 large. Just springs (250) struts (500) rear swaybar (300)

The cheapest way to get the most horsepower is nitrous. Not the safest, but you asked what the cheapest was.

HKS makes absolutely awful Subaru exhausts. Worse than stock except for being catless. And you don't gain anything from replacing the STi uppipe because it's catless.

As for exhaust, I'd go with the Vishnu standard exhaust. It has a high-flow cat, makes tons of power, isn't that expensive, and has a nice but not loud sound.

Also, intakes are not worth anything on turbo Subarus. Get engine management via a reflash or Xede instead.

I don't think that stand-alone springs or struts are much of an improvement over stock. You can make the suspension stiffer that way, but I don't think it will necessarily make the car faster. Coilovers are the way to go on that car IMO.

Oh, and sway bars don't cost $300 unless you're canadian. :p

Im thinking of the JIC Catback exhaust as well. The build quality is great and it saves 20 puonds! It only wieghs 8. Later on after we get this boost creep issue sorted out I will be going with a Godspeed downpipe.

thanks for the reply yall
but on vividracing.com
they said HKS carbon Ti catback was rated as the highest horsepower exhaust in Turbo Magazine catback shoot out...
so i was kinda lookin for that but since u said HKS exhaust sucks for subaru... i dunno who to trust
and what kind headers would you guys prefer the most??
as the pricing and the power gain

Stock headers. The HKS catback is okay, but almost every catback works the same, buy that based on looks and sound. The problem with HKS is their downpipe, it's awful. I always recommend going with one company's complete turboback exhaust, with one high flow cat.

Exhaust, boost controller.

Downpipe 200 bucks-ish
3" exhaust from some company 1200-2000
3" exhasut from the local muffler shop 400-700 bucks
Very Effective Electronic Boost controller 250
AWESOME Boost controller 700 bucks.

turbo back exhaust will make the biggest difference for you. We put a TurboXS TBE on a STi not too long ago and it made nice improvement

I agree with scott a full turbo back is the best way to make power. That and a piggy back or reflash of some sort. (esp after an exhuast or other minor work)

New there is only one source and one price - Vishnu. You either like it and buy it or you find a different one you like as much and decide to go with its price. I like all of their proprietary stuff and have always bought it when there was not an acceptable alternative.

whats the difference between catback and turboback??
and what would u prefer?? [/B]

cat back replaces the muffler pipe and the mid pipe after the third cat - from the cat back.

turbo back exhaust (tbe) replaces the entire exhaust from the turbo all the way back - can be catted or catless.

header back - from the exhaust manifold back - i.e. uppipe and a turbo back

head back - well you get the idea now...

jehcpa pretty much covered it. id prefer turbo back b/c it almost always gives more power than a dp and catback will
