I have a 98 STi with a 2 DIN Kenwood stereo Headunit. I want to get it out to tap into the wiring to ad a subwoofer ( unless it has preouts, which I am told it doesn't)
but I cannot work out how to get the dash / stereo surround off. It has two clips at the top, which I can get to pop out, but it is stuck at the bottom by the cig lighter, ash tray. - can anyone tell me what is holding that part ?
I did want to damage it by pulling to hard - I assume it has screws ?

Thanks
Grant

well, technically it is possible to take it off the way u are doing it, however it is kind of difficult b/c the cig lighter connector plug is fairly tight and could be hindering you from removing the molding. Its a little extra work but what I did was unscrew the center console (in between the seats where the e-brake is) and then took off the molding around the shifter b/c the molding around the stereo seems to flip around the back of the shifter molding. This will enable you to get better leverage on the remaining pins on the sides and the bottom. Hope this helped.
