Stereo in '04 WRX
I've heard some nasty rumors that the newest Japanese cars have the stereo somehow attached to the heating system, and so it's really hard to upgrade it without some dumbass kit. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Does anyone with an '04 have an audio/video rig running right now, and if so, wanna tell me anything you think I should know?
Probable direction of my system:
Diamond Audio 12" subs (purchased)
Playstation 2 (purchased and modded for Initial D!!!)
MB Quart QSDs front/rear
Some freaking amps for all this (don't know dick about amps)
Alpine CVA-801 in-dash flipout LCD head unit
XM Gear

I have had no problems whatsoever ripping out the factory 04 stereo and putting in an aftermarket head unit... granted, I don't quite have the setup you listed 
but it was a fairly straightforward install. And my heating works fine.
