kenchan 12-25-2002, 09:14 AM is it okay to blow heat from those vents while you have the
screen up like that?
nice picts, btw. I like it. i probably get the something similar. i need 5.1DTS....
anyone buy stuff from etronics.com? how are they? i was looking at the pioneer AVH-P7490DVD Mobile for $1549.99.
Dick Fitzwell 12-28-2002, 06:45 AM did you guys do the installs on those screens?
i was wondering if you had prblems fitting the screen in the lower din or just preferred it to be on top.
kenchan 12-28-2002, 08:14 PM if you put anything on the top din, then you cant reach it because of that screen...so most of the time, people use the top din for the LCD, and use the bottom for their changers, etc.
cnstman 01-01-2003, 11:37 AM i put mine in the lower din so it would not block out the hvac vents.

Hey whats up with the different colors and background? How did you do that?
--Matt
cnstman 01-08-2003, 04:36 PM i have the dvd-7300, it must have different backgrounds than yours.
if i push in the "d" pad controler on the remote control the colors change on mine, try that on yours
kenchan 01-13-2003, 04:00 PM where did you guys buy your pioneer AVH-P6400CD's?
i found one at etronics.com for $709. Is this a reputable
store?
Thanks,
ken

Zoeb2s 01-15-2003, 11:17 AM looks great..
As for the din questions u can have it 2 ways..if u put it in the lower din u dont block the vents, but it is not as visible from the outside..if u put it on the top it is more visible on the outside, but it blocks the vents..the other thing i have seen is people put it in the OEM gauge housing and that looks pretty neat.

kenchan 01-18-2003, 11:27 PM thanxs guys. :D
noobracer 01-23-2003, 02:20 PM I have my kenwood and i had it in the upper location and didnt like it cause it blocked the vents and couldnt use the heater cause my unit got to hot even when i had the heat going to my feet. I put in the lower section and doesnt realy block anything and who cars if people cant see the tv from out side i dont buy **** to impress people and or get things stolen. How do u guyz clean your screen cause some times it takes a little more than a soft cloth to clean it and i dont want to mess anything up and plus mine is touch screen and im left with gay finger prints.
04BlackWRX 02-16-2003, 01:40 PM Looks Great!
jakmobile 02-17-2003, 09:55 AM Can you use the cdplayer/tuner without the screen up? If so that thing is MONEY and a damn good price. Alpine is around 2g's.

And is etronics a reputable delear. I checked out there site, and their prices are amazing, any comments on phone support/help, instilation kits included? Thanks
rnyce1 02-22-2003, 09:08 PM I have the pioneer AVH-P7490DVD in my 02 wrx.
Its awesome.
I have it hooked up and an xbox under the passenger seat.
Any one know of mods to the xbox so it fits under the seat nicer.
Its too big so when someone sits down if there too heavy they push down on the top...
Oh well just a side question.
The unit looks great. The nav unit is sweet im getting mine in two weeks.
By the way i got the avh p-7490dvd at savingslot.com
$1,469.95 + shipping
CannibalCorpse 02-22-2003, 10:24 PM if you really want to get into it you could take apart the plastic case and either keep it out of any enclosure or you could make a custom plexi case for it. using a heat gun and some 1/4-1/2" plexi. heres a how to link:

jakmobile 02-23-2003, 08:52 PM So can someone answer my earlier question...Can this unit operate without the screen being up?
cnstman 02-24-2003, 07:50 AM i have the pioneer dvd 7300 and it will operate just fine with out the screen being up. the remote sensor is still accessable, so the remote works just like normal to.
cnstman
i rarely flip it up, unless i am driving on a long trip, or want to watch a dvd or course.
jakmobile 02-24-2003, 10:44 AM Thanks for the response. I will be ordering mine next week...
rnyce1 02-24-2003, 07:37 PM Hey Good choice....
Just make sure you have a by pass toggle switch installed so you can play while driving..... :)
caution is illegal in a lot of states so use better judgement
jakmobile 02-25-2003, 10:06 AM What exactly do I need to with this "toggle" switch?
jakmobile 03-10-2003, 07:20 AM Another question......
I was just looking at this unit on etronics.com, but it does not specify that it plays dvds. Do you need an external unit to play them?
rnyce1 03-10-2003, 08:04 PM pioneer AVH-P7490DVD
im not sure if your looking at the right model but this one does play dvds...
The toggel switch is for the people who do have the dvds. IN some states like mine (MA) you can not have a dvd playing while driving, so the installer has to integrate with the emergency break. So to bypass this feature you have a toggel switch put in..
Thanks
johnnyazn 11-28-2004, 08:14 PM I just bought a kenwood dvd flip screen. I want the dvd player to work while i'm driving, does this TOGGLE SWITCH come with the dvd or do i have to buy that separately?
And how exactly do you install it?
Any response would help. Thanks
johnnyazn 11-28-2004, 08:18 PM The one i bought is a KENWOOD KVT-715DVD IN-DASH 7" LCD. If anyone has the same one, please post pics so that i know what it looks like installed. I havent gotten it yet.
Are these things hard to install? And how do you install the bypass toggle switch.
fuzzymemory 12-01-2004, 08:52 PM Any one know of mods to the xbox so it fits under the seat nicer.
Its too big so when someone sits down if there too heavy they push down on the top...
HAHA - the XBox, while a quality gaming system, is a huge and ugly toy compared to the PS2. I got one of the new PS2s, and I was thinking it would fit nicely in my glove box. Who knows, an XBox may even fit in there. Keep in mind that an XBox is similar to a PC... full size HD and Motherboard make it bigger than other systems. Before I hacked up the XBox case, I'd just install a bigger hard drive & some software that lets you install full copies of games on the XBox. Then leave it in your trunk and run a remote.
johnnyazn 12-07-2004, 09:04 AM i just install my kenwood. all i had to do was ground the wire that goes to the parking break. Now my screen is on all the time. but i'm still going to put a switch on there just in case.
