we just picked up our 2004 Forester XS, with heated seats. my wife immediately noticed that she can feel some sort of flat rectangular piece under the upholstery near the rear of the base of the seat. i don't notice it while i'm sitting, but she's shaped differently than i am (that's a good thing, by the way ;-), and her butt ends up hitting this thing under the cloth, and it bothers her.

is this, as i assume, part of the heated seat wiring? has anyone else noticed it? it's about 3 or 4 inches long, maybe an inch across, sitting lengthwise across the back of the seat base, about an inch out from the seat back.

just wondering what to do about it, without compromising the effectiveness of the seat heaters too much.

thanks for any ideas...

My girlfriend has the 04 XT forester with heated seats. She has not complained about comfort issues of the seat... only the fact that the heat shuts off after 4 minutes when on the high setting. Her seats are also leather, so maybe it is more noticible with cloth seats? I just drove her car on Friday and did not notice it. Maybe a nice seat cover will help solve the issue? Just a thought.

hi -- thanks. yes, i suspect the comfort thing is pretty subjective. the pieces that you can feel through the cloth are also pretty thin -- i'm not surprised you can't feel them through leather. i'm actually hoping my wife just gets used to it -- i'd
really rather not have to put a cover on the seat. :-/
