Anyone feel like getting in another round of drag racing before they shut down the park at the end of November? Should be nice and cool again, good for a few more ponies...

Wednesday Night Drags (http://www.sacramentoraceway.com/sacwednite.htm) at Sacramento Raceway.

I'm gonna try to be there when the gates open at 4:30p.m. Admission is $6, with additional $9 to race.

Are you all racing or just watching?

Most, if not all of us, will be there to make passes down the 1/4-mile. Can you get away for an evening? There's Home Depot located nearby in Rancho Cordova.

Just checked the wife's work schedule...she's not working, so tentatively, that's a YES! I'll be able to make it.

Although, I've never done a 1/4-mile before. I'm a virgin. I'll probably embarrass myself if I raced!

...but then again, there's a first time for everything!!! :)

We can give you some pointers, if you like. The main thing to remember is to relax and concentrate on your car and your driving. I treat it as if there's no one in the other lane and I'm going for time, only - no competition to distract me.

Great, hope to see you there.

If Scott can make it, it might be best for you to meet him at S-Squared and follow him out to Sac Raceway from there. If not, I might still meet you there early. Or, just meet us at the drag strip if you're arriving later.

Do I need a helmet? I don't know if I have an "approved" helmet for racing. I have a DOT/Snell approved motorcycle helmet. Does that work?

Thanks!

I know your car is capable of low-13 second E.T.s so, yes, you should bring a helmet along. Your DOT/Snell helmet should be more than sufficient. If not, they have loaners for rent ($20, though!).

OK, who's all going tomorrow night. Is anyone meeting up before going?. I work in Rancho Cordova.

Does it really get busy on Wed nights? Is there a long line that forms early?

I'm going to try and get to work early so I can be at s^2 by around 4pm. Then we head to the track.

Wow, you don't have far to drive. I'm still going. I'll be out of town early in the afternoon but should be back in plenty of time to unload my spare tire and dead guy from the trunk. What time do you get off work? We usually leave early to arrive at Sac Raceway when the gates open at 4:30p.m. I can meet you guys at S-Squared and we can caravan from there if those guys don't try to lose me along the way, LOL. Here's the map (http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31818&postid=263558#post263558) to S².

I expect the remaining Wednesdays in November to be fairly crowded because of the cool weather and the fact that it'll be months before cheap drag racing is available again.

I won't be able to leave work until 4pm. I can be at s^2 around 4:15pm. Can you guys wait for me? Pretty please?

How far is the track from s^2?

Jason - the track is probably 10 - 15 minutes from s^2. I actually don't look like I'll make it - my gf is off work tomorrow night (so this will be pretty much the only night I'll see her all week) and if I want to go to the track I have to be to work by about 7:30. Considering it's 1:22am and I just got home from UCKK, I'm not going to make it by 7:30 :) (9:30 is a long shot).

So, I'll see you guys Saturday night - though I may have to work at 9pm :(

night

What's a more romantic way to spend a nice evening with your gf than at the drag strip?
;)

Okay, I'll try to get to S² and drive out with Scott and Jason.

Sorry you guys won't be able to make it this week. I'll drive out to S² anyway and see if Scott's going to go, or maybe I'll call first.

Out of seven runs tonight, three were in the high-13s (a first - previous best was a 14.0). My two low E.T.s from tonight were:

R/T: .688
60 ft: 1.972
E.T.: 13.871
MPH: 96.385

R/T: .653
60 ft: 2.025
E.T.: 13.909
MPH: 96.371

I'm done for the year. Don't want to abuse the car too much.
