thanks, Tim. somehow i missed that link before... bit pricey but very tempting. any issues or recommendations for a novice? :)
John,
Pricey compared to what? Drag racing? Solo 2? Compare apples to apples. The only other Road Course events at the full size tracks such as Buttonwillow, Willow Spring's Big Track and Fontana have 3-4 times as many cars at the event and in each run group. So yes you could pay $200 for a weekend at one of these tracks but you will be stuck in traffic a large part of the time. Thier run groups are 25-35 cars or more. OUR RUN GROUPS ONLY HAVE 7-14 cars. We never have traffic. Is all about continuous clean runs. We only get enough cars to break even so it's mathmatically impossible to do it for less. If someone is giving away track time give me the website, I'll sign up too. The tracks are all raising thier prices again this year so expect to see clubs passing that on to the drivers. This event is for people who recognize the value of being at a very small event were you have open track to your self. If you have never been to full size Road Course event at all it's hard to appreciate this. I invite anyone to come by and check it out. One of our driving instructors won his class 3 times at 24 hrs of Daytona and 2 times SCCA national championship. Driving school and instructors included.

how about some pointers? should i upgrade brakepads prior to the event? It seems that's pretty much mandatory on WRX for track events.:D I'm still doing the math... registration fee + helmet (if i can't borrow one) + other misc (brakes, alignment, instructor;), etc)
how many *novice* spots still open?
John, Instructor is included. Check your front pads, if your front pads are less than 50% bring an extra set to be on the safe side. It never hurts to have an extra set of front pads any way. We can help you change them at the track if need be. If you call the track you can reserve a rental helmet (661)764-5333, ask for Keri. Anything else just let me know. If you can, let me know by Monday if you are going for sure. Thanks, TimH
