Hi guys, I am new to the forum and will hopefully be an STi owner soon. A friend had told me that they were not available anymore? That they had sold all of the one's that were brought to America and that I would have to wait till next year. Plus that there was a waiting list. Does anybody know about this bad news? Is it true??:(

I don't know what exactly he might have meant by "not available", as I know where a black STi has sat for months in a showroom without being sold, and I had a different dealer call yesterday wanting me to call him back. I assume he wants to sell me an STi as I talked with him before about buying one but never went through with it. They are out there, you just have to make a couple calls to the dealers listed on Subarus website. Just work your way out in distance from your home and you will find one.

Do yourself a favor, and stop listening to your ignorant friend. There are 7 yes SEVEN unsold STI cars at IRA suburu in peobody MA. I would imagine that there are a few sitting around at other dealers across the country.

Depends on your area. Some locations sell them as fast as they get them and others they sit on the lot for awhile. If you are willing to look around or fly somewhere you can get a good price on an STI.

For the first time since we got STi's here in Hawaii, there are actually 5 still on the lot from the most recent shipment!

This is just like when the WRX first came out. All the stories of waiting lists, selling out, and grossly inflated prices turned out to be false, for the most part (well, maybe the prices were true for a little while :D ). Just well-deserved hype over a car that redefines automotive sporting here in the States. And did the WRX redefine sportiness? Hell yeah! You figure my (attainable) dream car used to be a Prelude Type SH until the WRX sunk it. Now the STi levels the Evo 8, Z33 Fairlady, AND RX-8. So it all goes back to hype! Good luck on your purchase RoyBoy. The STi will feel leaps and bounds different than any Integ ;)

Thanks guys for all your help. I have couple more question..

1. Do you guys think that Subaru will finally get the reflash right, cause I dont want to by a Scooby and then be spending most of my time in the dealer, than enjoying the car?

2. Are there anyother known problems on the STi? such as window regulator and ABS problems that is found on the WRX?

I know im going a little off topic, but I want to make sure this is the car for me before I go sign my life away, but for a good reason:D .. Thanks again guys..

Exactly what I meant by the 4g63 being a time tested reliable motor

Do a massive surrounding state by state search and observe inventory. Plenty of Blue's, Black's, and Silvers out there. The Whites are rare indeed. Pennsylvania is HUGE on dealerships, they must really love Subaru in that state, lol.

Its a pain in the arse to do the search, but I just about e-mailed half of the Subie dealerships on the East Coast. My e-mail box is frothing with crazy salesman trying to get my business. The fact that some Mitsu dealerships are starting to sell EVO's at invoice also helps you in negotiating a price =D well, it helped me anyway. You have to be willing to travel to get the goods. Good luck bro.

Just like everyone else is here, I find the STi very easy to find. In no way are they NOT AVAILABLE anymore. The problem with the pricing though is that it's real real marked up right now because it's a hot car. I've heard of anywhere from 2500 to 5000 dollar markup.

Markup?

I've got 4 in stock with winter coming.

No markup here! I'm considering discounting.
