Has anyone actually heard or seen this system yet?
Subaruparts.com has it in stock now and I just ordered it for my 04 WRX sti.
Parts guy says it has a nice low "burble" to it with 3" piping, so I figured why not, it has to sound better than the sti oem exhaust. If anyone has any info, let me know. I wont have it for a week or so.
OUT.

Irvine Subaru is selling these for 359.96 plus shipping. Search for the Bosal single tip catback for more pics. It does not have a resonator, but the muffler is baffled to keep noise down.

Which means its just a multi-chamber muffler like stock, not a straight through design, that sucks:(

I wonder how big of a difference it makes in power... Baffled vs. straight through.
If it's ~2hp or less, then I wouldn't mind too much

I have the Cobb system on my XT, straight through design, and they only claim ~5 hp and ~8 Ft lbs of touque. Sounds similar to the SPT one. No resonator/ 3" pipe.

i would say the gains posted by peaty are pretty accurate, if not a bit on the low side.
the thing with exhausts on turbo cars is that you want as little backpressure as possible because backpressure doesn't even help torque like it would in a NA motor. so by getting a straight through muffler, you really are freeing up a good amount of power AND torque. on a WRX, the difference is definitely noticable, and due to the fact that the STi is even more powerful to begin with, i would imagine that the gains to be had with a straight through muffler would be even greater. another thing to think about is, why would you want another baffled muffler when the STi already comes with a decent performing baffled muffler in the first place? the added size of pipe would be the only benefit as far as i can see. and you can get straight through mufflers that are actually decently quiet these days, so IMHO, they would be a better bet.

Tim, the oem muffler that comes on the sti is baffled much more and is much larger and has more of an inlet and outlet off-set making it very quiet. Also, the SPT can and pipe are polished stainless steel and it sounds WAY better than the sti oem can. I am sure that the benefit comes from the 3" pipe but it sure looks and sounds good!
