View Full Version : Rota Velo... MIA?
Racenut 12-16-2002, 03:17 PM I just got my WRX.. I was looking at wheels, and looking at Rota because I've heard they are an exceptional value.. I found the Rota Velo's on their website. I think these would look sweet on my Wagon... but I have yet to find them anywhere for sale or anyone with them on their car.. The subzeros are OK, but everyone seems to have them... who wants what everyone else has? ;)
Anyway... anyone that's ben in this game for a while know what's up with the Velo's?
Picture here.... http://www.rotawheels.com/velo.htm
nqwan 12-16-2002, 03:56 PM they probably dont make them in subaru friendly offsets yet, thus nobody here sells them. this is the case with many of the rims they make (like the te37 knockoffs  ).
the good news is that rota is starting to make more rims available in our offsets, so you may see these available in the near future hopefully.
these are all the rims rota makes for subaru that i can think of off the top of my head:
subzero
tarmac
formel
battle
attack
slipstream
sdr
b_tapper 12-16-2002, 04:42 PM They'll fit
17x7 +45 will work
has the right bolt pattern too
all the other rotas are +48
these will stick out 3mm further than the other rotas
Racenut 12-16-2002, 05:05 PM 3mm doesn't sound like much... and being a wagon, it seems like 215/45-17 is about the max I can run anyway.. wonder if it would rub? I'm not willing to roll fenders :)
Anyone know where to find them for sale?
b_tapper 12-16-2002, 05:29 PM I'm running 215/40 17's on 17x7 +40's on my lowered sedan with no problems
3mm shouldn't be a problem .get a ruler out and measure ;)
Racenut 12-16-2002, 05:46 PM Cool... now I just have to FIND THEM :D
Anyone have a set? ... especially if it's the last one.. so I can use the.... 'I have to get them now before they're all gone' excuse with my wife :)
7" vs 7.5"? Not really a big deal right? Especailly since the wife drives this car. I don't need the edge of the rim sticking out any closer to the curb than I have to :)
ImprezaRSDriver 12-16-2002, 06:36 PM Another thing that you have to consider is whether or not the wheel is hubcentric.

just dont get a 7" rim and try to stick a 225 tire on there, heh.
andon91107 12-18-2002, 11:18 PM I HAD ROTA WHEELS ON MY OLD INTEGRA THEY ARE BAD FINISH
PAINT AND CELEAR COAT STRIPS VERY EASELY .made in PHLIPIHNS
i did ask the compeny for impact test they dident provide .
i was talking person from prime co,USA.
THEY TOLD ME THIS LOW END CO. THEY DONT DO ANY IMACT TEST ON THERE WHEELS THERE FOR COST IS MUCH CHEAPER .
IF YOU CHECK MOST GERMAN MADE WHEEL THEY SEY T.U.V
TESTED ALL WHEELS ARE CHECK BY LASER FOR INTERNAL
CRACKS ,
MY ADVISE TO YOU PEY LITTEL MOR GET QOUALETY WHEEL
THERE IS LOT S OF GOOD DEALS
b_tapper 12-19-2002, 09:15 AM TUV is a german quality assurance system...anything car related made in germany is required to pass that..no other country is going to use that system
In the world of wheels, you get what you pay for
I have a set of rotas and they look great, they are a really nice set of wheels
rota wheels wrx 12-19-2002, 11:34 AM just for the record, no one asked from us any impact test data.
We do the following tests on our wheels.
CFT cornering fatigue tests
30 13 and 90 degree impact test
radial rolling test
We are ISO and QS 9000 certified. Wheels that we sell to the German market are TUV certified. These are the Cobra and A8 models.

Learn some English, learn to spell, learn to type, and, as you can see from the post above, they do do impact testing on the wheels. Have a good one.
John #555 12-20-2002, 12:01 AM hey, noone mentioned or compared to Subaru offset which I believe is 53mm. Isnt 45 going to be bit too much especially for a wagon for fitment? I thought 48mm offset was pretty much the minimum (or max variance) to avoid fitment issue. ..?
personally, I dont like the idea of moving out the front (steering) wheels too much. I'm sure it'll effect the overall geometry.
