View Full Version : STI tuning and Shiv
BUDLoNG 09-11-2003, 07:22 PM does anyone know why there arent any power stages for the STI, either thru vishnu, or another tuner?....
i would think the sti would be more "tuner" friendly, since the drivetrain can handle more than stock levels of power...

peczenij 09-11-2003, 07:37 PM Time...
The STi has a different wiring harness and computer than the WRX. Engine management is being developed to allow more safe boost and HP. Many bolt on parts are available from the WRX that fit the STi...
stott 09-12-2003, 11:31 PM The Stage 1 STi kit is in beta as far as I know.
Snowy 09-13-2003, 03:15 PM I e-mailed TurboXS and they said there UTEC would be ready in six months or so.
silver satin 09-15-2003, 12:24 AM I called Vishnu and as of last week according to them some time next month they "should" have a stage kit for the STI price to be around $2200.00. They also said they should be updating the website when it is complete I can't wait to see what they come up with.:D
Kuonji 09-15-2003, 02:00 PM $2,200 for their first stage kit for the STi? Jesus man..
Vishnu 09-15-2003, 07:15 PM It consists of an full turbo-back exhaust and an XEDE. We skipped right over Stage Subzero and Stage Zero. Went right to Stage One since it's a bit more interesting :)
Cheers,
shiv
Kuonji 09-16-2003, 01:41 AM How about detonation issues with that setup on 91? I'd say if those were somehow taken care of, I'd absolutely be interested in that when it was released.

Shiv claims to have discovered the cause (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=415592), resolved it, and found additional power (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=413052), on 91 R+M octane.

GTI337guy 09-16-2003, 08:30 PM Yeah, shiv's the man, no doubt at all. I'm simply waiting til they're shipping stage 1's and I'm there. Plus I'm 45-50miles from their shop heh.
J-REX 09-19-2003, 01:28 PM Shiv has a lot more threads on this issue posted on nasioc. He explains the whole process Vishnu is going threw to tune the STI and coming out with the stage1.

Hummer 09-19-2003, 02:34 PM I am trying to get a multiple purchase together for the Midwest. $750.00 each for orders of 5 through Axis in St. Louis. I am going to have Ron install and dyno tune my car.
PM me if you want in.
stott 09-29-2003, 12:43 AM .
GTI337guy 10-02-2003, 07:36 PM You taunt me with your tales of stage I fun. So unfair :( . What's a guy gotta do to spend some ****ing money and get a damn xede installed in an sti by vishnu tuning. I email, I call and leave a message. My only complaint so far with vishnu's service is the lack of it. Most businesses want your money, Shiv must already have all he wants. :D Return your calls!
Kevin M 10-02-2003, 08:55 PM Haha, believe us, we'll take your money. At the moment our STi stage I kit is backordered- we just can't keep enough Xedes and exhausts in stock to meet demand. If you'll send us an email again you'll get a response tomorrow. Or today, if it's already tomorrow today. Err, yeah. friday. :D
Krinkov 10-08-2003, 12:14 AM GTI337guy, Im in Santa Rosa too, you must be the other silver/silver STi Ive seen around, right?:D
GTI337guy 10-08-2003, 07:16 PM Yup. I'm the other silver/silver. 1,000 miles on the odo and counting. Pull up and say hi if ya catch me on the road sometime.
hayscoob 10-10-2003, 11:05 PM If all works out, you will have company here in Santa Rosa. A white one. RST is going to a loving home on Sunday.
Paul...
GTI337guy 10-17-2003, 07:03 PM Nice, pre-congrats man. Hey you have to be sure to show it off though. :D
hayscoob 10-17-2003, 07:47 PM Well, I have had it now since Monday. White/Silver. Fun car so far. The RST still felt a bit faster even though I can't go over 4k right now. From the get go, the RST seems faster. I'd bet the top speed of the STi would rape the RST though. I can't wait to stomp on it when the break in is done with. Man it sucks driving her slow.
As far a tuning is concered... we will see. I already spent an arm and a leg at Shiv's for the RST. Does he deserve my business again? He'd better hook me up if I do go to him again. He already zapped me for close to 4k for the RST. We will see...

kingsti 10-20-2003, 08:52 PM Ecutek may be ready around Dec 1.
APS has its own approach to engine management and will probably annouce its stage 1 at the Nov SEMA expo.

Apparently the people that think $2200 for an exhaust and a piggyback is outrageous are in the quiet minority.
While i do like the signature series turbo-back, i can't help but be underwhelmed.

Kevin M 10-20-2003, 10:37 PM What do you find underwhelming about 50 wheel horsepower?
Jgrahn555 10-20-2003, 11:00 PM I find that I can get that done with a lot less money.

A lot less? I'm intrigued. Please elaborate.

Jgrahn555 10-21-2003, 09:24 AM Custom built exhaust, e-manage, and fuel delivery. i'm looking at 1500. You're looking at 2200. But then again, I'm one of those handy people that can do things by themselves, I'm also one of those people who care enough about my cars to dig down deep into in and learn a bit about WHAT i'm doing and WHY I'm doing it instead of hinging my life on what other people SAY my car will do.
GTI337guy 10-22-2003, 07:00 PM Vishnu still hasn't contacted me, I must have tried calling 7 times over the past 3-4 weeks, and emailing 3 times. For a business, they sure don't do much. I'm just poking fun since I'm not really *****ing, but I wish I could actually get an order in for an XEDE, or stage I kit...
STiDreams 10-28-2003, 10:40 AM Hey GTI337guy
Are you the guy I talked to in front of the Kragen in Benett Valley? I had to do a double take when I looked out the window. I thought I was seeing double. So far, I've seen a white one, silver (you ??) and possibly a blue one on the roads of SR.
$2200. is that with your standard TBE or the signature series TBE?
Krinkov 10-28-2003, 10:58 AM theres at least 2 silvers in SR, Im the one without the wing;)
Ive seen a black STi at the starbucks by that kragen twice now, anyone??

That would make three then. I talked to somebody at that Kregan with a winged silver/silver. He parked right next to my silver/silver. When I looked out the store's window I thought I was seeing double. Lary told me it was someone that owns/runs a little shop that does adhidsive style paint protectoin shop. I haven't seen a black one on the road yet. I saw a white one on 116 going twards Goat Rock yesterday. The white was my second choice. Did you do a trunklid swap with someone? Are you finding that your ride gets less reaction from others around you now that you're wingless.

That would be me on Sunday going west bound 116 then heading eastbound on Monday in the evening. Still breaking her in. 350 miles to go.
Anyone know if the plug in/no cutting XEDE is in the works or is out already???

I think it's already out, Paul. Vishnu may be backordered but that's how it was with the EVO XEDE for a while. The bottleneck seems to be the plug-and-play wiring harness, not the XEDE itself. Why don't you PM our esteemed moderator BAN SUVS (http://www.i-club.com/forums/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=12), for current information? He can tell you what you want to know about the STi XEDE and the Vishnu Stage One.

hey! that was me:D
My compant Invisiguard installs 3M clear bras all over the bay, here it is on my STi. And yeah I swaped out my trunk lid for a stock spoiler, you know the only reaction I get is from other WRX guys that think Im a poser that put STi badges on the car! time to take those off to I guess:(
GTI337guy 10-29-2003, 07:13 PM Yes I was the guy at Kragen. We've got too many sti's now rollin all over bennett valley. Now that the farmers lane/hwy 12 overpass is finished we can fly through that area too. :D
Krinkov 10-29-2003, 07:49 PM damn, getting on the freeway there was my big excuse to check out the Starbucks girls every morning! Heh, Im sure glad we started this Santa Rosa STi thread:p
STiDreams 10-30-2003, 11:59 AM SR STi is just about as good a topic as any in one of these where's the STi kits with engine management threads for now. Eventually there will be some real info for these kits. Maybe after SEMA. For now we're all sitting around waiting for Vishnu, TurboXS, ECUTek ... to complete their testing and kits. I feel almost as anxious waiting for this stuff as I did waiting for my STi. At least I have my STi to drive and do other mods to while I wait. I'm hoping that months do not become a year. I remember everybody here living with the Unichip for a very long time with the exception of a few willing to venture off into full standalone land of the Tec, Link or ...
GTI337guy 11-02-2003, 09:33 PM Mmmmmmmm starbucks girls :D
Krinkov 11-02-2003, 09:50 PM hey GTi you going out with us next week?
http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35208
GTI337guy 11-06-2003, 09:35 PM Dunno. That thread is a bit confusing as to what it's supposed to be about with numerous links, different opinions, etc. Besides, with all the bay area clubs calling me with their beautiful hoochies I don't know if I can be swayed from the fun.
Ender2664 11-15-2003, 05:48 PM So what does a STI put to the wheels stock again? Like 218-225?
Krinkov 11-15-2003, 08:14 PM well I went down to shivs and saw an STi pull of 215, but shivs dyno is not a dynojet type which Ive seen read around 240. I cant recall which type he uses but its the one pros think is actually more accurate. When it comes to dyno numbers though everything is relative, numbers are different dyno to dyno.
