Just went in for my 30K mile checkup last Mon. Had to take it in 2 times since they forgot to check brakes/fluid.
Problem is today while driving to work, stream was coming out of the hood, but the temp gauge looked normal-wasn't over heating. BUT I can see coolant on the ground leaking from the engine area. Any ideas where the coolant could be leaking from? Car was running FINE before the dealer service (crap!)
Also, they told me that tire rotation is not recommended since the car is AWD--is this true?

Re: tire rotation.. Every car will benefit from a proper rotation of tires. This helps even out wear characteristics. I don't have my owners manual on me, but I bet it states it in there!

Yeah, tires need to be rotated regardless. I wouldn't go back to a dealer that doesn't know simple things like that. It's in the Subaru recommended maintenance manual for cryin' out loud.
EDIT: Oh yeah, the question. Check the overflow bottle with the engine warmed up to temp. Is it still overfull? Is it empty? Can you see coolant on the car beneath it? If not, crawl under and look at the bottom radiator hose. Any cracks or drips forming?

Are you sure it's coolant and not AC condensate? Is it clear or green. If it smells sweet it's coolant. If it is coolant and you have an animal or there are any around clean it up ASAP. It tastes sweet too and animals will lick it up. It's toxic though and can kill them.

Coolant - pop hood when the car is warmed up and look for leaks. Check obvious things first like hose clamps and radiator caps.
Tire rotation - write a short, polite letter to SOA explaining to them the advice you got from your dealer. It demonstrates complete incompetance.
Never trust that dealership again, and only go there if you absolutely have to.

finally someone who reads the owners manual-peaty ur a customer id love to have.new to these types of sites and in all of the i see how upset customers get at the sevice they get from there dealer-if these dealers are not from what i see giving you the correct informaton and service its time to look elsewhere.most people dont no that all subaru deales are rated on (soli0 scores which rate there dealer among all in there area.ask them were tjere score is at,this will give you a heads up on there service performance.at my dealership i go out of my way to answer and talk with each customers concern-that little time spent has brought me tons of return customers happy with my service-maybe its time for you to look elsewhere to get the service you deserve.is ur coolant level at the correct level in the cooant resivoir.slide a piece of card board undr ur car which will show the signs of leakage-bring this into ur dealer to show them this.then there is no mistaking
