Drag racing is gay...

Its not a motorsport unless it includes orange cones and you dont go over 40mph

What is this drag racing thing I keep hearing about? Is that when you double clutch and not granny shift?

Drag racing is a sport that does take some skill. Just doesn't take skill if your car is a 18 second putz with a body kit.

I miss the old days when I had my high 10 second mustang.

If power walking or speed walking can be considered an olympic sport, then yes, drag racing is a sport

Meet me at the track and I promise you I'll run better numbers in YOUR car than you will.

Because it takes no skill :)

They are olympic events?!?!?!?!? No wonder I only watch the winter ones. Summer olympics suck even more in my book now.

Don't forget, drag racing is also a nice way to get out all that pent up aggression in your right foot in a safe(er) environment. Got stuck in a crappy commute all week? Go to drag race night at the local track and take it out on some poor kid in a pea green Civic hehehe

I'm just curious...isn't debating the issue of drag racing like debating that stamp collecting is a valid pasttime? I mean, come on, as mentioned above. Everyone has their own thing...you don't have to agree, you just don't cry about it or let it ruin you're day.

Drag racing isnt a sport to those that arent good at it I would imagine.

If you got time to tell someone their sport isnt a sport... need a new sport i think :)

Can't we all get along.... it's all about going faster then the next guy or gal... I love it all... I'm not a PRO... but baby I'm not slow...;o)

V6turboTA
11-25-2002, 01:33 AM
I disagree :) (of course)

I think its all about going faster than i have previously. I go to beat my best time usually. Or sometimes to go for mph.. or to work on my 60'... and so on. Thats my goal, I dont care who i race... tho its always nice to spank other people it isnt always my goal at the track.

I just like to go race and talk cars with other racers... thats what its all about to me. Plus at the track its easier to filter out the BS. :D

Drag racing rules.
Just go to our local drag strip on a Friday night and you see for yourself.
All kinds of cars racing agaisnt each other to see who has a faster car.
Also you get to challange yourself to see if you can beat your best time.

I garantee no one would ever describe drag racing as boring after sitting shotgun in my WRX on my 12.7 @ 108mph run.

How could anyone describe drag racing as boring when your running a 3.9 sec 0-60mph with all 4 wheels spinning?

I guess it would be boring if you went drag racing in you moms Van. Hey, that would be fun too.

Alot of drag race haters have never raced on anything but a street. Before you knock it, go to the track and make a pass. Now try to do better than that and you have become addicted to drag racing.

I can truely say you havent seen anything till you hook a 1.40 on your way to a 9.89 second pass at 130mph....

about 4" off the pavement on a snowmobile :)

Yea huh :)

I ran 112.5mph in the 1/8 on that pass on the sled, could barely see anything till i was more than 100 feet off the line.

You havent been drag racing till you lose your peripheral vision when you launch.

:)

That was on an ugly ass Arctic Cat Thundercat

1000cc snowmobile with a decently built motor. Basicly milled heads, mild port work, full race pipes... Made 235hp @ the crank :) weighs 700lbs with me on it.

Thats actually not that fast for a sled.

One of my friends has a 1400cc sled that ran 9.2@143mph or so... There are guys in the low 8's

Lemme see if i can find a pic...

Here is a pic of me on my bro's pretty much stock 800 tripple.

Ran high 10's.

I got a ZRT600 with minor mods to run 11.0@116mph 600cc sled :)

Being light has its advantages somewhere... I'm refered to as "Human Nitrous" by the sled guys. When the want to break their previous record, they let me run it.

I have made hundreds of 10 second passes on sleds. For a while I thought I would never race a car again.

But banging gears in a car is always fun no matter how slow you go :)

btw thats smoke from the track spinning ;)

"How the hell do you run a snowmobile on pavement?¿?"

why is drag racing not a sport? unless you have raced other cars, you really cant make your decision based off of a wrx, awd launches are too easy. get a car with tons of torque downlow where u cant just slip the clutch at 5k and then you can see how easy and gay it is.

SO, drag racing is boring and not a sport? Well, if you suck at it then I agree with you. Me personally, I love it. But I drive a 10 sec 72 nova with a small block on alcohol and a 7.60 big block powered rear engine dragster. I race religiously every weekend. This year I won the track championship at Capitol raceway and over 12000 in winnings. Not a sport, tell that to my wife who's been putting up with it for 9 yrs.

Drag racing snowmobiles? Yeehaw!!! I remember going to some Snow Mo races when I was a kid where they raced on grass. it was an oval in a vacant lot in around 1977.

We do grass drags too...

115mph in 500ft on grass :) Grass makes for NASTY traction.

Watercross races... All sorts of stuff.

Great fun.
