Its not a motorsport unless it includes orange cones and you dont go over 40mph ;) ~v6 phast 11-22-2002, 10:01 AM Blah blah.. Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks! End of story! ish 11-22-2002, 10:11 AM drag racing sucks! IMO its too boring for me Hassassin 11-22-2002, 04:21 PM drag racing is kool, i havent auto-x'd yet tho, but i will like that too... a little icing on the cake V6turboTA 11-22-2002, 04:58 PM Drag racing rules... I was mocking people if you didnt get it :p ~v6 Arcanum 11-22-2002, 09:07 PM What is this drag racing thing I keep hearing about? Is that when you double clutch and not granny shift? Drag racing is a sport that does take some skill. Just doesn't take skill if your car is a 18 second putz with a body kit. I miss the old days when I had my high 10 second mustang. /\rcanum scoobieblue 11-23-2002, 05:35 AM hi all i have only ever been to one drag race meeting.. but i thought it was great. i was stood about 60 yards from the start line but i could feel the ground shake as those top fueler went by. my whole body went cold.. i must get to santa pod one of these days...... andy IMASA 11-23-2002, 11:21 AM If power walking or speed walking can be considered an olympic sport, then yes, drag racing is a sport V6turboTA 11-23-2002, 04:39 PM Originally posted by IMASA If power walking or speed walking can be considered an olympic sport, then yes, drag racing is a sport Meet me at the track and I promise you I'll run better numbers in YOUR car than you will. Because it takes no skill :) ~v6 Arcanum 11-23-2002, 06:35 PM Originally posted by IMASA If power walking or speed walking can be considered an olympic sport, then yes, drag racing is a sport They are olympic events?!?!?!?!? No wonder I only watch the winter ones. Summer olympics suck even more in my book now. /\rcanum Choku Dori 11-23-2002, 11:28 PM Don't forget, drag racing is also a nice way to get out all that pent up aggression in your right foot in a safe(er) environment. Got stuck in a crappy commute all week? Go to drag race night at the local track and take it out on some poor kid in a pea green Civic hehehe 1sikwrx4u2nv 11-24-2002, 03:49 AM I'm just curious...isn't debating the issue of drag racing like debating that stamp collecting is a valid pasttime? I mean, come on, as mentioned above. Everyone has their own thing...you don't have to agree, you just don't cry about it or let it ruin you're day. Angel 11-24-2002, 09:33 AM Drag racing IS a motorsport! Tara Drag Whore joltdudeuc 11-24-2002, 11:38 AM Originally posted by Angel Drag racing IS a motorsport! Tara Drag Whore Drag Whore? Dress up like a guy? :p Yeah, drag racing is all good. It tells you how fast your car is in the .25 mile. *COUGH* USTCC RULES! *COUGH* -Gagan V6turboTA 11-24-2002, 04:07 PM Drag racing isnt a sport to those that arent good at it I would imagine. If you got time to tell someone their sport isnt a sport... need a new sport i think :) ~v6 Impreziv 11-24-2002, 04:28 PM Originally posted by V6turboTA Drag racing isnt a sport to those that arent good at it I would imagine. If you got time to tell someone their sport isnt a sport... need a new sport i think :) ~v6 Well put wrx-spd 11-25-2002, 01:22 AM Can't we all get along.... it's all about going faster then the next guy or gal... I love it all... I'm not a PRO... but baby I'm not slow...;o) V6turboTA 11-25-2002, 01:33 AM I disagree :) (of course) I think its all about going faster than i have previously. I go to beat my best time usually. Or sometimes to go for mph.. or to work on my 60'... and so on. Thats my goal, I dont care who i race... tho its always nice to spank other people it isnt always my goal at the track. I just like to go race and talk cars with other racers... thats what its all about to me. Plus at the track its easier to filter out the BS. :D ~v6 SGOSWRX 11-25-2002, 06:30 AM Drag racing rules. Just go to our local drag strip on a Friday night and you see for yourself. All kinds of cars racing agaisnt each other to see who has a faster car. Also you get to challange yourself to see if you can beat your best time. I garantee no one would ever describe drag racing as boring after sitting shotgun in my WRX on my 12.7 @ 108mph run. How could anyone describe drag racing as boring when your running a 3.9 sec 0-60mph with all 4 wheels spinning? I guess it would be boring if you went drag racing in you moms Van. Hey, that would be fun too. Impreziv 11-25-2002, 09:29 PM Alot of drag race haters have never raced on anything but a street. Before you knock it, go to the track and make a pass. Now try to do better than that and you have become addicted to drag racing. Pete V6turboTA 11-25-2002, 09:41 PM I can truely say you havent seen anything till you hook a 1.40 on your way to a 9.89 second pass at 130mph.... about 4" off the pavement on a snowmobile :) ~v6 stealth-wrx 11-25-2002, 11:39 PM for those who dont think its a motorsport. try telling that to john force. V6turboTA 11-26-2002, 12:03 AM Yea huh :) I ran 112.5mph in the 1/8 on that pass on the sled, could barely see anything till i was more than 100 feet off the line. You havent been drag racing till you lose your peripheral vision when you launch. :) ~v6 stealth-wrx 11-26-2002, 12:33 AM 112.5 in the 1/8. oh my god. my best was 91 in the 1/8 and i almost crapped my pants. what are you driving and whats done to it. nick **post whoring master** V6turboTA 11-26-2002, 12:57 AM That was on an ugly ass Arctic Cat Thundercat 1000cc snowmobile with a decently built motor. Basicly milled heads, mild port work, full race pipes... Made 235hp @ the crank :) weighs 700lbs with me on it. Thats actually not that fast for a sled. One of my friends has a 1400cc sled that ran 9.2@143mph or so... There are guys in the low 8's  Lemme see if i can find a pic... ~v6 V6turboTA 11-26-2002, 01:19 AM Here is a pic of me on my bro's pretty much stock 800 tripple. Ran high 10's. I got a ZRT600 with minor mods to run 11.0@116mph 600cc sled :) Being light has its advantages somewhere... I'm refered to as "Human Nitrous" by the sled guys. When the want to break their previous record, they let me run it. I have made hundreds of 10 second passes on sleds. For a while I thought I would never race a car again. But banging gears in a car is always fun no matter how slow you go :) btw thats smoke from the track spinning ;) V6turboTA 11-26-2002, 01:21 AM For those of you thinking "How the hell do you run a snowmobile on pavement?¿?" V6turboTA 11-26-2002, 01:23 AM One more stealth-wrx 11-26-2002, 09:56 AM i want one:) IgotWRXed 11-26-2002, 05:48 PM why is drag racing not a sport? unless you have raced other cars, you really cant make your decision based off of a wrx, awd launches are too easy. get a car with tons of torque downlow where u cant just slip the clutch at 5k and then you can see how easy and gay it is. W O W 11-26-2002, 09:31 PM Drag racing is boring scoobieblue 11-28-2002, 02:14 PM kin hell you wouldnt get me on one of those oversized lawnmowers for all the coffe in brazil andy Impreziv 11-29-2002, 05:54 PM Originally posted by W O W Drag racing is boring Interesting insight Stealthbmbr 11-30-2002, 08:10 AM SO, drag racing is boring and not a sport? Well, if you suck at it then I agree with you. Me personally, I love it. But I drive a 10 sec 72 nova with a small block on alcohol and a 7.60 big block powered rear engine dragster. I race religiously every weekend. This year I won the track championship at Capitol raceway and over 12000 in winnings. Not a sport, tell that to my wife who's been putting up with it for 9 yrs. I remember going to some Snow Mo races when I was a kid where they raced on grass. it was an oval in a vacant lot in around 1977. V6turboTA 11-30-2002, 11:52 PM We do grass drags too... 115mph in 500ft on grass :) Grass makes for NASTY traction. Watercross races... All sorts of stuff. Great fun. ~v6 IgotWRXed 12-01-2002, 01:52 AM Originally posted by V6turboTA We do grass drags too... 115mph in 500ft on grass :) Grass makes for NASTY traction. Watercross races...
