Well actually you want a Narrow Tire with a large amount of Meat between the wheel and the tread. Like the tires i have on my truck are 33 x 12.5 on r15's. They do awesome in the snow. And that's because they have a wide foot print and alot of meat between wheel and tread.

How do you figure that? I assume by meat you mean sidewall. You want a narrow tire because it will apply the most amount of force per area to the ground.

Wide tires on snow are not ideal.
Wide tires on slush is even worse. You are more prone to hydroplaning. If you run skinny tires you'll have a higher amount pressure on the ground which helps you break through the snow, slush and ice to get better traction.
Pounds per square inch... car weighs the same, so wider tires give you more square inches and therefore less pressure on the ground.

Donohue, I would almost guarantee you better performance with a skinnier tire (same height). 235/85's were a big seller because of their great traction. I used to sell/install tires in northern Idaho.

I went with 195/65-15's - Dunlop WinterSport M2's I did the tire calculation and they're the closest you can get to stock overall height as to not throw off gearing or the speedo, its like .4% or something IIRC.

to tell the truth the washers work well and look nice but are a lot more trouble (and costly) to install than they are worth.

OK, what is a GC8 and why can I not buy a WRX that looks that cool?

Seriously, the WRX is a great car but the looks are a bit weak. That hood, those lights(mostly the lights)...That is what the WRX needs!

i dont have a kit, its just a v6 lip and rear spats. Since you have an L you will need to buy the 99RS bumpers, headlights, foglights and hood. screw the interior, go straight to the suspension, then the engine, or vice versa. i'd so suspension though.

well the engine is turbo'd already, and it already has a full exhaust on it, so not much is needed besides the internals. As the interior, i was refering to mounting those electronics... not paint or anything. i dont like painted interiors. I need to mount the safc, knock link, and sitc in the glove box, mount the safeguard under the pass seat, move the gauges into a pod above the vents in the center, and put a stereo back in. Def. need to do some suspension work. My friend is giving me his stock WRX rear sway bar, so that is awesome.

Exterior is the last thing on my list, unless i get some crazy deal. but when i get to that stage, i would like it to look like that car...

yeah, he just mentioned pistons. i said go for the suspension though, cause that's what is more better

Is the track open to the public? I want to get up to Montreal soon, it looks like a cool city. I should go see the CART race on that circuit.

And yes, F1 does race on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

I'm not sure if they just had a race, but they definitely do F1 there. The place is open to the public when there aren't any scheduled events. people are allowed to use it as a park; ie. rollerblading, jogging, picnics, etc.

it's almost surreal...you go down the offramp and bam! you're right on the track! i was seriously in shock when it happened. i thought i took a wrong turn and ended up somewhere i really shouldn't had :p.

mule2k: when you go up to Montreal, look for the Montreal Casino. On the way there you pass 'ile d' notre dame' and that's it. definitely check it out! i also recommend going through Old Montreal. a really nice area. it's like a much bigger, busier version of the South Street Seaport in NYC...and the girls up there are insanely hot!

i got the bumper spats a while ago from Primative Racing(http://www.writerguy.com/primitive/body.htm) from Paul Eklund. There is a gap since they're for the JDM bumper but it's not noticeable since it's a dark colored car. I was planning on getting the JDM bumper in the future, but later invested in the suspension:D

if you're thinking about getting the rear spats, consider getting the front lip too - together they really help give the car a more 'squared-off' look. (just ordered the lip the other day hehe)

the car is lowered about an inch. Version5 struts with the P1 springs. great ride, but i do get rubbing on the driverside rear on hard turns when i have stuff in the back. i either have to fix the camber or roll the fenders...or both.

Hey 00imprezars, I don't mind the altezzas. I've got them too on my 01'. They sure as hell beat the stock taillights.

Okay, I confess, that's not my speedo. :p That car is getting about 600 more RPM than I could ever get in 5th, so it's either got cams, a turbo, or is going down a lonnnnnng hill.

Bumper is just a standard pre 99 spec sti one. Te covers are from a gu over here etsracing@currantbun.com iirc and wee 40 uk pounds, so about 60 dollars.

I've been looking for months, and can't seem to find a pre-'99 WRX front bumper anywhere. Anyone know where they might be sold?

you guys are lucky to have these bumpers available for scoobs even as way back in 93, guess just like Japan, the US is very particular about safety, and concentrated more on this than the looks IMO...so they just had crappy lookin' bumpers and pre99 scoobs here had to get aftermarket body kits to get the the traditional scooby look:cool:

Theres my car... i just got it. I know i know, i need to do some interior work... that will get done shortly. It needs tuned at the moment as it is running too rich. I hope to be able to get lower compression pistons, and then do some exterior work... what do you think about this car?

Actually its not a 350z ass it's an Infiniti G35. Not bad for a 16 year old to drive huh, a 16 year old college freshman to be exact. And i do have a GC8. Stupid whores. But the inifiniti is just better. PErfect drift car. You know what ignorance is- saying a bunch of crap about stuff you dont have a clue about. So drive your GC8s and ill drive Mine, and I'll Drive my 30k G35 too. OK? OK!ANd by the way the 350z is slower than my car even though it has 7 more horsepower and mine has 4 seats. BUt as for my GC8 its pretty much stock. WRX rims and a 2.2l engine swap for now.

Hey, the G35 is not a bad car at all. But the reason people don't want you posting pictures of it here is possibly because of the thread's title: "GC8's here everybody." That doesn't mean if you own a GC8 you should post pictures of other cars you own, it means post pictures of the GC8...

And also, no need to need to make your post sound like you are cocky and act like you are better than everyone cause your parents bought you a $30k car when you're only 16. Nothing is wrong with a G35, just simply try not to bad mouth people because you believe being spoiled and getting an expensive car that your parents paid for makes you better and faster than everyone.

I agree with MeaCulpa, I was thinking the same thing while I was reading Hachiroku's post. That kid needs to simmer down. No one was being rude to him, even if his pic was out of place.

You shouldn't get too pissed when people say its a 350. The 2 cars do have a similar shape, and to somebody who isn't familiar with the cars could easily make the mistake. Its not like anybody is really trying to bad mouth your car when they call it a 350z. Its just a simple mistake on that persons part.

But yeah, if you don't mind me asking, how is a 16 year old able to afford making payments on a $30k car?

i'd also like to know the answer to that question, im 18 and i barely got money to fill my car up with gas...

I was actually thinking of tinting them.. or go back to my gc8 oem tails and tinting them...??.. kind of like the electra1 Actually my body guy was going to crack them open and paint the housing the same colour as my car.. but he couldn't do it.. :-P

As for the the black lip spoiler .. it looks different in person than it does in the pic... It does make the car look very aggressive.. But u gotta see it up close... or in the rear view as you smoke my ass in a race.. LOL :D

I dunno what year it is, but its not stock. It's an abs bumper for a gc8. Its hangs 15 inches instead of the stock 14. Other than that it looks about the same. IF any one is interested just email me. Same with the turbo.

does anybody have side pics of their car with the ver5/6 front lip spoiler(or whatever it is), the stock side skirts and the rear spats, preferrably with all the ground effects in black. also a before pic if possible. i recently got the front lip and was surprised at how much it changed the look of the front and now im thinking i want the rear spats that are for sale on rs25.com. also, is 119 good for those rear spats? thanks in advance for these pics.

i will take pics hopefully tmorrow. i have all the version 4/5 stuff, but it is painted. i think the entire package is the way to go. it really finishes off the aggresive look of the GC8, and it really seperates the car from other rs's
