Since I've had the 4-pot brakes installed along with the Sti brake pads, I notice a lot of brake dust.

Can anyone recommend some pads that don't have so much dust? My ride is a daily driver.

are you on stock rotors? I have noticed mine dust a whole bunch with stock 4 pot pads, and slotted rotors.

Forgot to add that I have the DBA slotted/drilled rotors.

Is it the pads or because of the rotors, maybe both?

The Sti pads are nice and quiet, but just after 1 week of driving, ugly brake dust. My wife must think I'm nuts just to wash the car because the rims were dirty..

Okay, I have to ask, which type of STI pads do you have? The pads is what is causing all the dust. Because there are the Pink sport ones or the stock black ones.

The black ones will dust up really quick. That is normal, but it is a really good street pad.

I have a set of the Pink Pads also. And boy do they just want to eat up the rotor really fast. I would recommend staying away from those. They will eat your rotors up pretty fast.

Even with the DBA rotors the pads will still dust up really quick. That is just the nature of that particular pad compound.

Now if you want something with a little more grip and a little (and I mean just a tad) less dust, then go with AXXIS Ultimate pads. Those are great and I recommend them to anyone. I have the 4pots on my RS and I have the stock pads. I will switch them out once I wear the current set out. I have put the Ultimates on the Legacy. Boy do they stop really good. I have a couple of friends who have put this pad on their car and say that they love it. I am sooner or later going to stock pile some for myself and my friends in the future.

they sell little or no dust pads. i forget which site had them, but i was a little skeptical about them as the brake material has to go somewhere. if there is no dust, then are the pad eating up your rotors.

Axxis Deluxe Plus are supposedly really good for low dust, low temp efficiency range, and better-than-OEM performance. I haven't put 'em on yet (I have a set sitting in my room) but I've heard enough good things about them to give 'em a try. :)

You can try EBC Greens if you really want no dust.

That is interesting because I have the factory EBC Greens from Subaru on my SVX and I have noticed that after like 3 weeks of driving(from the previous wash), it is still not as dusty as my stock STI pads or my AXXIS Ultimates on the RS, WRX, or Legacy.

I'm thinking of going with the greens on my svx with slotted rotors. The stock pads still fade after hard running. Are the green pads good with heat?

The EBC green pads are far far better than the stock pads than came on my wrx.
It mabe that I became lazy after I got the pads and did not clean the wheels for a while, they do seem cleaner that the factory pads. I have no Idea how dusty the sti 4-pot pads are.

I just meant that they are not dust free

Axxis Ultimates on my brembos= very noisy when cold and very dusty. 50mi. of driving made my Anthracite P7s look BLACK instead of dark grey. My biggest complaint with the axxis was the cold temperature noise. They howled like a banshee until you did some aggressive driving and warmed them up.

Hawk HPS=no cold noise, hardly any dust, a little less bite but still no fade. I just put these on around 400mi ago and so far I am very pleased.

FYI,

EBC Greenstuff dust like mad! Just as bad as stock. This is with stock rotors.

The stock pads from Subaru for the SVX are EBC Greens.

I used porterfield pads for a 300zx turbo with my 4pots. They weren't as bad as the black STi pads dust wise.

Huh? I need to start going to your dealer. Mine passes of bendix brakes as factory. Up until a little while ago no one knew there were even ebc pads made to fit but someone figured out the suv pads for the pathfinder fit the svx.

Yeah, The SVX uses Nissan pathfinder front knuckles and a Legacy rear end. That is why no brake upgrade is possible for that car. The front calipers and brackets are from the Pathfinder. I didn't know that the stock SVX pads were EBC Greens until I looked at the compounds.

Like Scubaru,

I use the Porterfield R4-S , the dust isn't that bad and they won't eat the rotors like the EBCs do.

The pad part # for the 4pots is AP-460.

The stock 4-pot pads dust really badly. I'm using Axxis Ultimates currently. I like them alot but as another guy said they do dust a bit and they are noisy when cold. They don't dust as bad as the stock 4-pot pads however.

I have a set of the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads but haven't put them in yet. I have the Axxis Ultimates in now and they dust like crazy.

From what I hear the Axxis Deluxe Plus are very low dust and are very easy on rotors.

I'm going to hold off on ordering the Porterfield pads for a little while. I need to get a few other bits for the car before I am willing to toss out perfectly good new pads.

Well in certain situations, I would sometimes rather have a bit more brake dust than than less stopping power. You never know when you will that extra bit of power when the time comes.

I've been using Endless pads on the front and rear. I don't notice much dust(if any). They are a little expensive though.

I have tried the STI pink pads. Those create a lot of dust and eat the rotors really quick. I know that they are only good for track uses. But I know that the EBC Greens were designed to not be as dusty as any normal OEM pads. I know that the EBC reds are dusty but are only meant for track use or high temp use.

I've had EBC green pads on my 4pots for around 10-20000 miles, but it kept warping the rotors. I had to turn the rotors 2-3 times before I got the idea.. I finally switched to Axxis pads and they are a little more dusty but no problems with warping. I think the EBC pads are meant to be sold with EBC slotted rotors..

Well if EBC sells their slotted rotors with only their brake pads, then there is no point in them being in the business because that means that they would have to make a rotor for every application out there. I am sure that they have many rotor applications out there.

If that was the case, then why would the stock pads for the SVX be EBC greens. And so far I have seen little or no dust for a while and have not warped any rotors yet.

The STi 4 pots are standard on the UK "Impreza Turbo" GC8 car, which I had.

The standard calipers, rotors and pads give off hella dust, they also do the same on my wrx on this side of the pond!
