I need some help-keep in mind that I'm driving around with a bent up hood (very imberassing). But I just recieved the carbon fiber hood I ordered from vivid racing. Now I know the quality varies and lots of them can be wavy and can have a strange color-from what I understand. I thought vivid racing would give me a good one- it's way smooth and glossy and the color will look great on my black car, but ther are a few irregularities in the weaving of the carbon fiber. I can't wait to get it on my car but I don't know about these irregularities. Are they supposed to come with a perfectly woven pattern?

come on-tell me- shouldn't they be able to make a carbon fiber hood where the fibers weave together without screwing up all over the place. I'ts just that there's this blemish in the carbon fiber that's the size of a dime right in the middle of the hood-

Should I be greatful it's smooth and the right color and see how it looks- or if you could get them to send a new one- would it look good?

Should Carbon Fiber weave good or not?

Yes, carbon fiber should lay so that there are not glaring irregularities in the weave. I know, because I have made some carbon pieces.

However, as the size of a carbon piece grows, so does the difficulty in laying the weave uniformly, especially on a curved surface.

There are not many people making Carbon hoods for the WRX, so you might be out of luck. I'm still looking for one myself, that I can use with a TMIC, but I can't find a company with a good track record.

If you find a nice hood, please let me know.
