Wow! i'm really interested in the AEM front brake system, but i need to know how difficult it is to install... does it come with directions? I just got my WRX (yayyy! 18 years old with my dream car, i win!) and i though i have a pretty good mechanical background, i've never had much hands up experience with automobile modifications.
Have jack stands, jack, and just bought a 150 dollar set of generic tools...

You do win with getting a WRX and being 18!! :) I wish I had a WRX when I was 18!!!
The install if very easy to do and it does come with all the instructions that you need!! You should be able to do it with limited experience or first timer projects. It sounds like you have everything, parts wise, that you will need to install.
Let me know if you have any other questions or if you are ready to place an order!! :)
I look forward to hearing from you again soon!!

Hey there!! No the Perrin kit works with your front OEM rotors. So you don't receive any with this kit. The rear OEM ones are smaller so that is why they have them in there. Please let me know if I can help you any further!! :)

maybe,
I bought my car used and i don't know what the guy did but the front brake pads and rotors are completely shot i won't even try to get them turned. they are scortched and warped and just nasty period.
So i am buying a set of 17 inch rims except my old stock rims are getting snow tires on them so i need to be able to switch back and forth and everywhere i look you need 17 inch rims for a big brake kit.
So i need to find a big brake kit that will fit under stock 16's and i need a kit that has all need rotors etc b/c i won't buy a subaru rotor b/c they suck in my honest opion.
If you have any ideas please help me out

Matt,
Hey I know that Brembo makes OEM rotors and maybe we could find something through them that will work for your situation. I will contact my supplier tomorrow and see what I can find out and then I will post on here for you!! :)
Otherwise, there is not a lot of other options out there for brake upgrades that will fit under 17" rims.

Hey there!! Thanks for posting!! I know that Brembro has rear OEM replacement rotors for the WRX that you can get in either slotted or drilled...but I am not sure on the pricing but I will check tomorrow. As far as the compatibility goes you can use a different brake kit for the rear if you want they will not conflict with the front kit. You could choose any of the kits that I have available and they would work with your kit. I will post when I have prices on the rear sports rotors from Brembo...or if you decide to go with another kit then let me know!!

Hey there!! I was able to find out that Brembo does have the OEM replacement rotors for the front!! You can get them in either slotted or drilled. And they will work with your OEM calapers. If you wanted to upgrade to a better braking system you could get these rotors and then the Perrin Brake kit!! :)
Price - $370 shipped for the front set of rotors(drilled or slotted)
vlsredline - You can use the same pricing for the rear OEM rotors if you want to upgrade those and then add the Perrin Rear Brake Kit. I will get you pricing for the seperate Perrin Brake Kits....
Also, if you want better brake pads I can get those also!!

The money in my pocket is biting me!
I'm interested in the Brembos, but not sure which one to get.

Hey I think that the size is a personal preference...some people want the biggest that they can get!! You have everything right except for the rear calipers. The Stoptech BBK are made to work in-line with the stock rear calipers, so no Stoptech rear calipers :( :)

adrive - it will cost an additional $200 for you to get glossy red Stoptech calipers. The default color of "Anodized Black" is a very good quality paint. It has a flat paint feel to it. As far as the fluids, I believe they are an additional cost, and I'm sure Brian will do his best to hook you up.

Brian - got the brakes on!!! I took one pic of everythinn that I ordered laid out. I was only able to take the pic compared with the stock rotors but not the calipers. I had painted the stock calipers and they were drying off under some nice hot halogen lamps elsewhere, so sorry you won't get the 100% comparison to the stock pieces. I took pics of the brakes installed and behind my rims. I'll take some more tonight after I wash the dirty car and will send them to you either tonight or first thing tomorrow morning - sorry for the delay. They look insanely good and the feel of the brakes is sublime!!! I only need to upgrade to the Stoptech rear BBK when they come out. The default caliper color is the one you see from my post. Stoptech calls that "Anodized Black." It's a flat black of sorts. If you want gloss red, gloss blue, gloss black, gloss yellow, or any other color in gloss, it'll run you an additional $200 dollars.

bringndefinitio - Hey there!! The BBK for the front is available but not for the rear yet....what we have done in the mean time is come up with a buy that gives you new slotted rear rotors, stainless steel brake lines, and new axxis performance pads....this rear solution utilizes the OEM rear calipers. So you couldn't get the red for the rear unless you wanted to paint your OEM ones to match. However, you could order the front kit and wait on the rear to come out beginning of Nov.
Price on just Front BBK - $1550 plus $200 for red paint. (lead time of 2-3 weeks for painting)
Price on Front BBK and rear kit stated above - $1799 plus $200 for red paint.
All prices are shipped also!! :)
CA residence must add 7% sales tax as this is what I am getting charged from Stoptech since they are drop shipping from Cally!!
Let me know if you have any questions and I will try and work with you to get you what you want!!

What is the width and offset of the se37's? If it is 17x7.5 and 48+ offset they will not work.. My friend has them on his car and they rub the caliper on sharp turns it has rubbed the redpaint off the caliper.. If you want them you are probally going to need a wheel spacer of some sort..
hope that helps.

auwrx,
i have a question on brake upgrade,
I currently have stock 4port subaru front japanese WRX with roter, and stock back.
What i need to get a beter brake then now? any suggestion will help.
Thanks,
WRXINRED
Flash N Dash
09-13-2003, 01:00 PM
wrxinred - mmmmmmmmm..........you have japanese rotors??
To get a better brake it would depend on how much better you want.......there are a few options....if you upgrade your rear rotors with slotted and new Stainless Stell brake lines and better pads in front and rear it would be a little better.
If you wanted a lot better then I would say get the BBK from Stoptech and you could get the rear option that replaces the same as stated above for the rear.... or you could take it a notch further and when Stoptech comes out with their BBK for the rear in Nov. you could upgrade the rear big time.
Right now with you stock setup on the rear it is putting a lot on the front when you go to stop. So that is why it is always a good idea to upgrade front and rear when you do this kind of mod.
I hope this helps but please feel free to ask any other questions you might have and I am sure that we can come up with a solution that will suite you just fine!! :)
Thanks,
Brian

I already have the stainless steel pipe at the front. do i need the stainless at the rear as well?
Does stoptech BBK is 6 port or 4 port?
my current stock is 4 port. i would stay with that. and just try to upgrade the rotor and brake pad , what is a good brakepad? Axxexx?
any suggestion would be great.
Thanks,
Wrxinred

wrxinred - The Stoptech BBK is a 4 pot. It would help to have better rotors all around and get the SS brake lines in rear and then go with the Axxis Pads. That should help out a lot. :)
Let me know if you have any questions....if you like this idea then I can put together a price for you on this.
Thanks,

I called Stop tech last week, some older female said they wouldn't be making a rear kit. But the kit works so well that it doesn't matter much.

09-15-2003, 09:20 AM
Yeah - supposedly Stoptech canceled the plans on a rear kit. Last time Brian (auwrx) spoke with Stoptech (maybe a month and a half ago), they said it would be revealed at SEMA. But another member told me that per his conversation with Matt from Stoptech that the plans have been n'xed - about a couple of weeks ago.

Your wheels are Anthracite anyway, you can leave the dust on for months and not notice!

09-30-2003, 10:13 AM
bringndefinitio - OK bud I just got off the phone with Stoptech and we came up with a way for you and others to test fit if the BBK will work with after market wheels. IF you already have the Volk se37's in your hands then you can use this method to test fit them....if you don't have them in your hands then let me know and we can just call the makers of Volk and talk with them.
OK if you do have them follow this... go to www.stoptech.com and look near the bottom for the link that says "Wheel fitment chart" and then click on Subaru and you will see a chart that you can print out to test fit your wheels to see if the kit will work.
Let me know if you still don't have the Volk's and I will call the makers for you!! ;)
OH AND I TALKED WITH THE MAN IN CHARGE AT STOPTECH ABOUT THE ISSUE OF THE REAR BBK BEING NIXED AND HE SAYED THAT IT IS STILL ON FOR THE REAR BBK TO BE MADE AND THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO HAVE IT OUT FOR THE SEMA SHOW!!! This is coming straight from the guy that makes all the calls!!

Pker and I finally got out Stoptech Stage 2 kits complete with the intstallation of some Carbotach Bobcat pads on the front. All I can say is WOW! From a purely "bling" perspective, the Bobcats have a red backing that shows thru the caliper which looks kind of cool, but far more importantly, the initial bite, pedal feel and the whole braking experience is night and day better compared to stock. I highty recommend both the the Stage 2 kit and the Bobcats.

drifterx - Sounds good! :) I bet you can't wait!! WOOHOO!! Yeah you are adding some beef to your car....time to take out all the seats...lol. I saw this car at the SEMA show that had all carbon fiber seats in the front and took out the seats in the back. It was sweet but I don't know how comfortable it would be to sit on that. ;)
Let me know when you get them and install.
Thanks,
Brian

yes i did recieve them but since the weather has been kinda crappy (i only have a car port at my house) and my buddies dad (the garage we work in when we can) just got back from a bussiness trip so he aint really down with the noise we make. sooooo i have not been able to put them on:( . but yeah they are nice and i cant waith to put them on along with the other crap i have just sitting in my living room (aps fmic, trust intake, aps bov, hotchkis f & r sway bars, hotchkis f&r endlinks, hotchkis hd mounts, prodrive splash gaurds, helix catch can, new egt gauge and boost gauge). i need to do somee other stuff to my car also that i havent ordered yet (whiteline alk, cusco subbrace v2, cusco strut tower bars, cusco engine mounts, sti tranny mount, sti pitch stop and some other little things). so needless to say my gf is getting kinda upset cause all this crap is just sitting in boxes in stead of on my car casuse she want to drive it since the 1st transformation of my car.
thanks again

drifterx - Ryan, COOL!! :) It sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you whenever you get the garage!! ;) Well at least you GF isn't mad because you are spending all the $$ on your car instead of her...lol. Some women can be like that. Let me know what you think once you get them on and let me know if I can ever do anything else for you!!
