JohnQGearhead 06-21-2003, 11:17 AM I can almost guarentee that motor will not last long. How much boost anyway?
Ultimate Racing 06-21-2003, 11:26 AM We're running at 21psi.
Can you really almost guarantee it? we've been driving on this for months. :p
We've done countless compression and leak down tests...the engine is still MINT! :)
Sunrise Rider 06-21-2003, 12:57 PM Good time...
Whats the turbo specs? Trim and A/R's?
You run full boost from 1st to 5th?
Stock Clutch and Flywheel?
Any Pulleys or other mods?
Tuned by you, using ECUTEK, on your Dyno? Or did you tune at the Track?
Again, Great Time...Congratulations,
Zee
Oh what about weight? Did you pull weight off the car and what tires are you using?
Ultimate Racing 06-21-2003, 01:07 PM Specs? Well we can't really give out all our secrets ;)
Yes full boost from 1st to 5th.
Stock Flywheel, ACT clutch.
This was tuned on and off on the street and on the track using the EcuTek in conjunction with our Motec Wideband.
We're not really big on Dyno tuning for the WRX. The first time we went we noticed radical differences while datalogging on and off the dyno. Obviously the car is not really moving anywhere. Intake air temperature suffers as the top mount absorbs huge amounts of heat soak. As well, the fans in the dyno shops just can't mimic the air force while actually driving. This isn't assumption, this IS what we datalogged.

SECRETS???
You ran high 11's and you have Secret turbo Specs???
Let me guess, t3/t04e with a .63A/R and maybe a Vtrim turbine wheel, with a .70 A/R to4e Compressor Housing and a 60-1 Compressor Wheel...I think the turbine wheel trim is wrong but the Compressor side is pretty common for 25psi setups...
Top Mount Coolers Suck...Plain and Simple...The bigger they are, the more material for the heatsoak to spread to...
With the kind of pressure and flow you have, you should look into a quality Bar and Plate Cooler to replace what you have now...Everything else is on point...
Zee
Ultimate Racing 06-21-2003, 01:36 PM Well not quite secret. But the turbochargers we use in our kits are generally not disclosed. We spent countless days and many turbochargers in order to find the one that worked THE BEST for our application.
As far as Front-Mounts go...ours works great...just not on the dyno. I agree, Bar and Plate is where it's at! That's why our top mount is bar and plate.
:)
I have to be the one that asks. Who's the dusche who took you on reaction time and hung with you 0-60 but ended up with an awesome 23.417 @ 41.77 MPH? I wish my car was that cool...
Ultimate Racing 06-21-2003, 02:29 PM Haha. That's our Evolution VIII. That was a mis-shift and then coast to finish.
Actually the Evo did very well. 12.172@110.23mph. Fastest Evo VIII in North America with stock turbo, stock cams, and no nitrous.
So actually I wasn't being sarcastic... I do wish my car was that cool... ANYWAY. Nice job on both cars, sounds like you guys are doing some great work. Any plans for an MY02 2.5 RS line-up of parts now or in the future?
Ultimate Racing 06-23-2003, 10:14 PM Ok, as I promised. Here are the videos:
11.894 @ 114.72 MPH (http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Products/Subaru/WRX-11.894.wmv)
11.980 @ 114.49 MPH (http://www.ultimate-racing.com/Products/Subaru/WRX-11.980.wmv)
Enjoy!
Thanks
Darryl

ultimate, where the one driving in that white WRX on that 1/4?
Ultimate Racing 07-19-2003, 07:27 AM C16 is what we used. The driver of the car was Lionel from Ultimate Racing, not me. He's better at AWD launches...or so he says

I have to agree with you when someone does not know what they are doing. We did a leakdown test and loss is only at 4 %, 5 months after this setup was installed.
This is daily driver that takes is car to the limit every time that he gets in to that car. It is all about tuning and knowledge.

jkuz2003 07-24-2003, 11:41 AM what are you launching at? do you feather the gas or hold at an rpm. i' ve been launching at 4500rpm. that has seemed to get me the best result, but i think i should be running alot faster. i have just a couple mods, aem cold air, mrt electronic boost control running at 17 psi and i ran 14.6 at 95mph. should i be running faster?
sigma pi 07-24-2003, 12:11 PM wow congrats good luck in the future
how much HP are you running and is the tranny stock?
RacerZ22 07-30-2003, 01:59 AM not going to last that long. better hope its not a daily driver.

You should be runing faster than that man. My car is bone stock and a ran 14.6 (forgot what the mph was). I guess your CAI is killing some of your time. Also, you should try to feather it from 4k to 5k and then slip the clutch... I know i can do better as well because I still can't slip the clutch out good enough.... Practice makes perfect.....
Julio 11-13-2003, 10:35 AM BTW - The fastest EVO VIII on Stock turbo is in Puerto Rico.
reaction: -.984
60 ft ------2.381
330--------4.972

tylerderdin4 11-24-2003, 02:39 PM well i have a stock 02 wrx- and did 13.6- 1/4 mile at 98 mph plus a 1.86 60 foot, just practice to make perfect. my 4th time going to track to. so im a rookie. just up-pipe,down pipe, exhaust, blow-off valve, boost contoller, thats all, everything stock.
Christian 12-07-2003, 12:12 AM ummm that wouldnt be stock now would it...

insaneSTi 12-19-2003, 10:44 AM My car's stock i got full exhaust this that and a couple of other things .
No a car is stock when it's the way it rolled off the assembly line.
Stock internals and tranny yes but stock car no.
I've seen people run that time with less stuff also.
kewldan 09-25-2005, 10:44 AM You should be runing faster than that man. My car is bone stock and a ran 14.6 (forgot what the mph was). I guess your CAI is killing some of your time. If you dont have a tune for your CAI you could actually lose performance.

st0ckwRx03 09-25-2005, 04:39 PM wow this thread is from 2yrs ago ...
kongzilla 10-21-2005, 11:47 PM i've notice that watching the vid. your wrx didn't move at all. what kind of tires are you using. i launch at 5500. not holding rpm. build boost, slip clutch and go. but when i do, my whole car moves to the right, then it goes striaght. yours seems to just go. but 60' was 1.79, 13.7@98mph.
thunder_sti 11-14-2005, 12:07 PM Haha. That's our Evolution VIII. That was a mis-shift and then coast to finish.

Well you also have to see that when HE(U.R.) said the EVO is the fastest in N.A. he meant it*
* look at the date of his post... Of course there have been people making faster runs since then....

X-Factor 11-25-2005, 04:38 PM ok so maybe some of us are kinda slow....damn.

I know this thread is 3 years old and the post I'm quoting is 1 year old, but I just wanted to point out...
That the post said 11.5 and the time slip showed 11.68
That the Subaru was in the right lane and the right only went 14's, it was the left lane that went 11.68.
That the number on the car was 127 and the number on the time slip was 43 or 48.
I'm sure the good ol' boys at mzm can run the number, but this timeslip ain't for this run.
:)
