Are there any US shops (preferably in california) that will install tougher gearsets into a 03 WRX? I don't want a dogbox, but pretty much anything else will be great. STi will cost too much so I dont think I'll go with that.

I have a new new H.D. gear set for a WRX 5 speed that I am considering selling if anyone is interested. I can elaborate about them if their is serious interest.

They could probably install whatever you wanted. I know that in SCC iSR installed a 1/2 dog box in a '99 RS.

I wouldn't trust ISR. They screwed over a guy named Gary501 from the old i-club.

The installed his PAR dogbox incorrectly, and then it went KABOOM, and they denied that they had any involvement, and blamed it on their outsourcing partner.

I am pretty sure that they outsource tranny rebuilds!

Don't trust them...they are shady!

Actually ISR has much experience with dog box installs and they know what they are doing.. I believe Gary purchased the dog box thru a vendor who then contracted out the work to ISR. I heard that ISR had recommended to the vendor that the customer replace the weak oem cast shifter forks at the same sitting as they are prone to breakage in a dog box ( I think they also recommended a shifter interlock too ), but the vendor never informed Gary of this advice from ISR. I don't think it was an installation issue with ISR as the problem, but Gary was going after everyone involved initially. I think Gary would be the best person to hear from in this regard.
