same size . whats the weight difference? damage the shocks? I dont see why they would.
I would be concerned about weight difference and the effects on the awd drive train if any concern to be considered

measure the circumference of the 2
if they are within 1/4" your good if not you'll eventually have center diff problems.

I don't know about shocks, but it is very doubtful that the two sets of tires are within a 1/4 inch circumference of each other. This could cause strange ABS behavior, but more importantly, over the course of a few thousand miles, you will very likely fry your center differential. If the dealer finds out you were running two types of tires the repair will not (and should not) be covered under warranty. I beleive the owners manual specifically says that all four tires should be the same size, brand and type.

A neighbor got two new tires on their Legacy and left the old rears on. Almost toasted the center diff. As stated measure the difference with a tape measure. Must be 1/4" or less.

Yup, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Are you trying to reduce understeer?
There are better ways to do that.
Just ask!

If you want to get rid of the stock tires and they are in decent condition I would be interested in taking them of your hands.$? I am looking for 2 possibly 4 new or almost new stock 16 in. RE92 tires.

i think you should just put all the same brand/type of tires on.
thats the only way to be sure you car is safe.

How do we know if we almost toasted the center diff. ???
Is there any symptoms?
What would happen if the center diff. is toasted?
I may be asking stupid question here, but please bare with me as this is the first time I have a car. :p
Any recommendation would be appreciated.
