How much friction area does a new clutch come with, and what amount can be left for a clutch to still have a decent amount of life left on it?

I'm curious about this too. old_duwel 12-21-2002, 09:16 AM just let off of the clutch with out adding any gas in gear, if the car stalls then the clutch plate is good or has enough life in it... if the car doesn't stalls, then your clutch is bad or going to be bad. what some of the japanese mechanics do is they put the right foot with the toes applying to the breaks and the heal tapping the gas while the car is in gear and they let off on the clutch at the same time the push the gas and break. now don't add too much gas, now while doing this if you could feel the car move then it is good, if the car doesn't move and you are still breaking and gasing, then it is bad. RebelINS 12-21-2002, 12:56 PM The only problem is, is I can't do that, because the clutch disc I have is not in a trans, so I wanted to know if there is like a depth of material where it still has a decent life left. I will probably just buy a new one, but still. -Wes |
