Theme #1: "Independence"
Anything that depicts independence (or lack of).

Theme #2: "10 Things Within 10 Feet"
Based on the quote "There are 10 interesting things to photograph, within 10 feet of you at all times." Find at least 5 (at most 10) interesting shots within 10 feet from where you read this, or wherever you are when you decide to do the theme. Please post these all in ONE post.

I'm not going to go into descriptions of the themes too much, because the point is for you guys and gals to figure out what it means for you.

Rules:

• Photo has to be taken within the given month
• Photo must be your own work
• Please only submit ONE photo per assignment (this rule does not apple to the "10 Things Within 10 Feet" rule, shoot for 5-10 shots for this theme)
• If possible please post all the photo info such as lens, f/ stop, shutter speed, etc.
• All photos are open to C&C unless otherwise noted by poster

Ending Date: July 31st

This isn't a competition, just a themed assignment for those who wish to participate. The only reason there is a due date is to keep the thread from going on and on. Feel free to PM me with options for other themes.

Constructive Criticism
The point of limiting criticism to Constructive Criticism to to keep people from just going "wow, your photo sucks" without offering a means for improvement. You could go "The composition just isn't doing it for me, maybe try moving the subjects face to the left a few inches." It would also nice and helps people receive CC better if you balance a negative with a positive such as "Well the lighting is nice, but the composition just isn't doing it for me, maybe try moving the subjects face to the left a few inches." or "I like the composition overall, but the busy background distracts me from the subject's face.'

Matt, if I'm at an event, anything 10 feet from where I'm standing counts ?

 

The idea of the theme is to push your creativity by taking the location out of your control, but yeah, you can change it to a different spot as long as all of the shots are 10 feet from where you were when you decided to start.

I guess thats TECHNICALLY 5 things? Oh well.

 

So far I have 4 of my "10 Things Within 10 Feet." Hopefully tomorrow I can reshoot 2 or 3 that didn't come out as I had hoped. These were all done with two 50mm prime lenses. My new one, and my old 50mm macro.
