So my car will be smogged in NV. What is included in this smog check? I'm sure its different than the procedure in CA.

Educate me, thanks!

It depends on the county. I believe in Washoe it's just a OBD2 check (if you're not throwing codes, you're fine) for 95+ cars, with no sniffer, but that may have changed - I've never had to smog a car in NV, s I'm going off other member's old posts. What are you smogging? How "illegal" is it?

Yeah, in Washoe and Clark county, they idle the car for 10 minutes or so, and plug in an OBDII scanner to check for codes. If your car isn't OBDII, then you get an 10 minute sniffer test while idling.

I believe the rest of the state just does a quick OBDII test, without idling. I can't remember know what happens for pre-OBDII cars.

My 07 STi. Right now it is totally stock, but usually runs around protuned Stage2 w/ CAI and catless TBE.

So there is no visual or actual emissions testing?

The only visual test is to see if there is "visible smoke". As long as there are no error codes and all your sensors are in the 'ready' state, you should be good.

I need to go check for dirt cheap apartments in NV to "move to", and register my car there.

Awesome.

So, in theory, could a stage 2 catless car pass an ODB2 scan? I know I had codes 'turned off', but I don't know if they would trigger a malfunction on their equipment.

This is just hypothetical as my car really is bone stock since I got reffed a month ago.

Yeah, off the shelf Cobb stage 2 maps pass regularly on the OBDII scan, and I would assume tuned maps would too.
