Exhaust or bike

I have come a week out on some money and all I can think about is whether to go with the full on header/cat/exhaust or get a mountain bike. As much as I love to race and speed, I also love to downhill mountain bike. I was going to do Borla headers, Random Tech cat, and Flowmaster 40 series custom cat back, OR a mountain bike http://www.specialized.com/SBCBkMode...untain&my=2003 I guess being an impulse buyer sucks and my money is never in pocket more than a day. Just gauging some insights of what people would suggest. Being a subaru forum I have an idea where the direction will go...Thanks

Go with the car parts. Any FS mountain bike under $1000 is pretty much disposable. In fact, I wouldn't even think of paying less than 2 g's for a DH rig.

I don't know about 2G's for just a bike. Get the exhaust. I would skip out on the Random Tech Cat though. It's not going to be that much more gain with it, but a LOT louder, which with the setup you want should be loud enough without it. Instead, use that cash to get an intake, or lightened pullies, or short shifter, or you can even save it for a bike.

But the louder the better though. I grew up around straight piped jacked up trucks and miss that obnoxious sound. I live in some college housing with a bunch of preppy snobs and the thought of waking them up early every morning is wonderful. I keep riding the bike and it keeps tempting me more and more. I try to not give into the dark side. The only problem with it is being paranoid about it getting stolen which would really **** me off.

get the exhaust and a cheap $100 wally world special bike to hold you over. thats what id do anyway, if i just had to have a bike. i would just get the exhaust though, like he said, a DH rig for under $1000 id be a little skeptical of. its all basically low grade parts on that bike too. you will be repacking those hubs about once a week if you ride it.
