GFB pulleys
STi exhaust
STi iridium plugs
STi radiator cap
Greddy profec-b set at 1.2 bar
Greddy arnix airfilter
Greddy turbo timer
HKS down-pipe
HKS SQ bov

keep it rev'd between 4-5rpms... dont hold it there, bounce it around so turbo stays spooled...

bring your foot off the clutch quick, but not dumping it...

i do this and get consistent 1.8-1.7s

hold rpm's at 3k. when its time to go, step on the throttle, and let go straight up on the clutch at whatever rpm you choose to launch at.

atleast thats how i do it :)

holding at RPMs doesnt keep turbo spooled up, u get OK 60' but not the best u can get...
ive done almost every luanch method and the one i said above is proven to be the best

i tried it and i pulled a 12.65 on the G-tech at 109 mph.
thats cazy, can i rely on that.
i got another new mod too, the HKS header

from what i've heard about the G-Tech, its alittle off from the real 1/4 mile times but its very exact when compairing the results to other results you've gotten on the Gtech.

so if before the new launch technique, you would get consistant 13.0s and now with the new launch technique you got a 12.65, i'd say thats a vast improvement.

actually, the gtech is more accurate then the track, but since everyone goes my the track, gtech is not considered a time to go by...

the track measures from point a to point b... based on 2 sensors, which can be triggered by debris & cause false times...

gtech measures 1/4 exactly, based on mathematical calculations and formulas, which are consisent & proven...

i used my gtech at the track and its off by .1 or .2, so i would say its very reliable!

Just bought a 2003 WRX, And i'm learning all i can. Whole New Ball game here. So to launch you need to bounce the throttle to keep boost alive? With that Silencer removed i can here it boost under hard thottle. But will i here it while im bouncing the throttle?
Thanks

How does bouncing the throttle keep the boost up? I thought that at x RPM you would be at (aproximatly) y psi of boost. Isn't the ammount of exhaust gas made by the engine almost constant at any given RPM? Is there some other factor I don't know about. This isn't a flame, I just want to know the reason it's like that.

im not too sure either, but think of it this way...
if ur holding at an RPM, ur not spooling up boost as high as it can... cuz of course the fasttest spool is wen u floor it...

so if ur consistently flooring it back and forth, and then floor it once more before take of... ur gonna launch at full boost at ur peak TQ... which gives 1.7 60'

You're "loading" the motor against it's own inertia. It's harder to spin up a motor that is winding down in rpm than it is to rev it up from a standstill or to hold it at a constant rpm.

Have any of you guys used a "2 step" to launch off of. It's an electronic device, sort of like a programable rev limiter. You absolutely floor the throttle, the 2 step lets say "bounces" the engine at 5k, (very rapidly) this keeps boost way up. Then when you let the clutch out, the 2 step is disengaged and BLAM your gone, Check out Matt Harlan's stuff (he's got a twin turbo firehawk)Matt is a young engineer for GM, he is a FRIGIN' GENIUS.
you should ask him at www.ls1tech.com . He is Y2KHAWK. He's a moderator on the FORCED INDUCTION forum. His car runs 10.000 at 140 or so. He also makes cool shift lights and "window swithches" A device that controls , say NOs between a "window"(programable) of 3000 to 6500. (or what ever). This way you can leave the line, have the spray come on in 2nd gear at "x"rpm, stop at just where you shift, (so its's not on during any over rev or missed shift), then it's back on when you bang the next gear.
Have fun guys.
ps I don't have a REX yet, I'm going to get my wife an '04 in Sept.

George
