RLLYRCR 02-11-2009, 10:12 AM http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196621 these guys could probably point you in the right direction JArnaud 02-11-2009, 10:15 AM is your clutch slipping or just engaging late? Mine didn't engage until what I considered to be too late as I released the clutch, so I thought is was shot. I had it replaced, come to find out the clutch plate itself was only worn to 70%, but the pressure plate had some issues. Point is, wait for it to start slipping before you get it replaced. Just my $.02 kungpao 02-11-2009, 10:20 AM If you are in 5th or 6th and go WOT, it starts slippin all over the place, revving up high, but going nowhere. I think it is toast, or well on its way. Just contacted the dealer and they quoted $1050 for parts/labor to replace the clutch! wow. Anybody got some Vasoline? Rickdrizzle 02-11-2009, 10:39 AM I'm vouching for blkwagon. His name is Chris and he is a very good guy who knows his stuff. Give him a PM. Rickdrizzle 02-11-2009, 10:40 AM Also, we're having a mini meet on the 21st. It'd be nice to see more suby people in town. http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198879 Most of the guys don't post on here though. They're usually on www.fresnoracing.net. kungpao 02-11-2009, 11:01 AM Yeah i saw the post there for that lollipop place. Unfortunately, by the 21st i will have fully transformed into a raving lunatic. I am studying for the bar exam which begins on the 24th. After the 27th though, i am down for whatever. I live in Olde Town Clovis, and do most of my shopping over at herndon and fowler, and in just that little area i have seen some nice subys around. blkwagon 02-11-2009, 11:26 AM if you have time you can come by friday-sunday this weekend and i can look at it. send me a PM Rickdrizzle 02-11-2009, 12:16 PM Yeah i saw the post there for that lollipop place. Normally it takes a day or two kungpao 02-11-2009, 08:13 PM Yeah i noticed the only section i could really get into was one where you are supposed to introduce yourself and the whole forum consisted of erectile dysfunction pills and asian donkey porn vids. rabrina 02-11-2009, 09:22 PM yeah to prove you are not a spam bot or whatever, just say hi..what car u drive...just intro urself. then play the waiting game. im blubaru on fsr Rickdrizzle 02-11-2009, 10:02 PM Yeah i noticed the only section i could really get into was one where you are supposed to introduce yourself and the whole forum consisted of erectile dysfunction pills and asian donkey porn vids. donkey shows FTMFL. blkwagon 02-12-2009, 11:20 AM ricky let me borrow your motor for a day or two when you pull it out...ill kick you down some cash. I just want to go get my car smogged before i drop my 2.5 in Chris, I talked to Phonna (fumbucker), and he told me that he doesn't want anyone using the motor for anything. I tried vouching for you but he's just dead set on not letting anyone use that motor for whatever reason. blkwagon 02-12-2009, 03:00 PM damn thats sucky.....i hopefully will be building mine in the next week or two but still havent been able to get it registered...and i dont want to put it in until i can...i guess ill try to piece my other ej20 back together and hopefully can get it to go long enough to get smogged. My clutch decided that today was "the day" and is totally gone. Its getting repaired at Herwaldt right now. I will post the final payment receipt so that i may be flamed into oblivion. Kinda got you by the balls though when your pushing the car. Rickdrizzle 02-12-2009, 10:14 PM Well, I am not happy about this, but I am really gonna be needing that vasoline now. Kinda got you by the balls though when your pushing the car. Ouch. kungpao 02-12-2009, 10:59 PM The good news is that i can resume driving the car in a manner in which it was designed: fast! (well for another 6 months or so til i have to buy another clutch) rabrina 02-12-2009, 11:39 PM ur gonna go through a clutch in 6 months? kungpao 02-12-2009, 11:45 PM It took me six months to kill this one, but it probably is the stock one, and has been abused since day one. I got the car at 47k or so and its at 53k now....how long do they normally last? rabrina 02-12-2009, 11:48 PM definately more than 6 months or 6k. so did the car have a new clutch when you got it? kungpao 02-12-2009, 11:51 PM i highly doubt it, it most likely was the original one, and i was the lucky winner. Regrettably, i have no idea of the history of my car. I am having the shop save my parts so i can check later on tomorrow probably when i get it back. blkwagon 02-12-2009, 11:51 PM damn i could have done it for you sunday. good luck. and yea a clutch normally last a while. unless you slip it a lot kungpao 02-13-2009, 12:03 AM yeah man.... sorry this was definitely not "the plan", I figured i could make it a few more days, but no dice. I still am going to pay you a visit if i get the car back by saturday, I have many other things this car needs to have done to it. blkwagon 02-13-2009, 12:07 AM yea come by...ill be there. kungpao 02-17-2009, 07:02 PM Well I got it back today. New clutch and flywheel, with installation. Grand total: $1395.44 It feels kinda weird, cuz my old one required you to really mash in the pedal and it engaged when it was just about released all the way. it was really tough too, My left leg was on some incredible hulk status from pushing that thing in. When i left i stalled the damn thing because now it engages when you let the clutch out an inch and when you barely push the clutch in it goes to the floor immediately. Is this way it is supposed to be?!!? Rickdrizzle 02-17-2009, 09:17 PM yes. |
