View Full Version : New Dash Layout

Not sure if correct forum but - I'd like to set up my dash to look like the easy street car. Tach in the middle with two small gauges on the side, then add a pod for rest. Three questions.
First: How do I keep the odometer reading verified so I can eventually sell the car?
Second: Does changing the dash layout void the powertrain warranty since no engine work is being done?
Third: Where to buy and who installs in the Westchester/Putnam New York area?
As you can tell I'm a newbie and need all the help I can get.
Thanks.

not for sure exactly what you are looking for, but i would suggest an sti dash cluster. are you wanting to take the stock dash out completely??

Yes. Take out dash and replace with a 5" tach with the light plus I think it's the boost and exhaust gauges on either side. Then mount the fuel, temp and speedometer/odometer on a pod.

i searched for pics of the car you were talking about and wasn't able to come up with anything. from what you are saying, it sounds as if you want to shuck the whole instrument cluster and fabricate something aftermarket??

Stack now offers a dash replacement available through Demon tweeks with shift and warning litghts as well as an analog tach and several digital display functions, STACK now offers a system that also has an odometer as well this would serve your purposes since you could keep the original gauge cluster and show it to the customer this would sovel your problem. NOt a cheap option but a really cool one that will give a real top shelf engine monitoring system.

Heres a pic of the interior of the ESX car. Kinda sloppy but should give you guys the idea of what my dad is thinking of doing.

Thanks Erik, guess I shouldn't yell at you anymore. There, a public apology, let check out STACK or how about we switch the tack and speedo, Put a shift light thru the clear plastic dash facia to the upper left hand corner of the new tack position and put the other gauges we need on the pod. Not as cool but maybe more workable?

FYI, if you pull out the stock cluster (ie you have no subaru OE cluster attached) and a stock ECU, your car will go into limp mode.

You'll need full standalone engine management to do a mod like this.

Erik

Erik, are you referring to the dash being sloppy or the picture of the dash being sloppy?

Hey, Ali from ESX here,
just saw the post today, wanted to say that our set up on the red car is just race only deal really. it doesn't have a tach or odometer. I really don't recommend this set up on totally daily driven cars. We could build you a set up similiar but with the needed street guages.

your best bet is to get a sti unit.. since it basically plugs in and works with the tach in the centre.

however, there is one slight problem. the speedo (unless you get it from the UK) reads in km's.

they sell cards that simply drop in over the speedo so that you will be able to read it all in MPH ....
