SO i offically lost my job. I guess its good i didnt get the 09 wrx.

I have been working construction. However people right now dont think it is a great idea to spend $50,000 on a bathroom or kitchen right now. So the boss had to lay us off.

If anyone has any job oppurtunities in the NOrthbay area or even in the city let me know. I have done retail, construction, I am a CPO for pools and I can do just about anything.

Just please let me know if you guys can. If it pays decent enough I am willing to drive just about anywhere in the bay area.

try hitting up FedEx... they have some pretty good benefits.

Overall I would say try to get work at a HUGE company... they will likely pay better and they are less likely of going under.

Yeah man, I'm in the same boat right now. I suggest always checking Craigslist, Careerbuilder, and all the other job sites. I'm guessin there are some more construction oriented sites devoted to getting laid-off workers new jobs, but I'm not sure. Also, keep in touch with people, whether they are still employed, laid off, or whatever. New jobs often go quickly to friends or acquaintances of those already employed.

But always keep your head up. It's the only way to stay sane.

I know I good place to start if you feel like working in the refineries (the only people that seem to be hiring). It pays well if you can deal with the hard work, and the inherent danger of working in a oil refinery. I just got hired with Shell oil (I worked for Dow chemical before this doing the same job), and there are a ton of other companies that contract out maintenance work for the oil companies and chemical plants and the such, or you can apply to work for the oil company. There are allot of entry level position like Operations that if your halfway intelligent and get hired you'll make great money. Here are some good websites to check out. Look for entry level positions like Operator, or anything that includes Trainee in the job title.

www.chevron.com -my Dad works here as a opertator and makes a ton of money, great place to work and there headquarters are in San Ramon.
www.shellmartinezrefinery.com -where I work as a pipefitter/ welder awesome company to work for benifits and pay wise.
www.tsocorp.com -Tesoro Refinery in Martinez
www.conocophillips.com -CP refinery in Rodeo
www.valero.com -Valero refinery in Benicia
And then there's plenty of contract companies that do a ton of work in the refinery and are a great way to "cut your teeth" and get into the refineries just to get some experience.
www.Timec.com they do all maintenance work around the world, Mechanics, Pipefitters, Welders, Electricians, Millwrights, etc.
www.coreydelta.com the same as timec, just a little smaller.
www.petro-chem.com they do insulation, lead abatement, scaffolding, etc.
www.pscnow.com Phillip services, they do all sorts of refinery related maintenance, and operations.

Now all these jobs are not some office type job, but it sounds like you didn't have anything like that before either, but they all pay good (at least $20 per hour) and they can lead to something even better. Hope this helps man, good luck!
