Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

1983 subaru GL 4wd, what can i swap in it?

Well you can fit an EJ20 in the body style after that, so you can try that. If not maybe a turbo motor from the same generation?

NA Subarus don't have forged internals, trust me.

If you want to do a swap like that, prepare yourself for HOURS of hard work and wiring. It's possible, but it's far from easy. Try www.ultimatesubaru.net for any questions you have on that car, though. The people over there are very knowledgeable when it comes to older Subarus and can answer just about any question you have.

Kay, the RX doesn't have forged internals as far as I know, and they didn't turbo all of their models. High boost in an EA82T with stock internals=boom. I promise.
