K I need to vent a little. Those who know me know that I dont get pissed off very easy. Well story goes, this supervisor who Iv been having problems with has been recently getting on my case alot. Tonight, we had some guys from air canada come to check on our operations. My supervisor being the controlling b**** she is starts to take over our ramp lead's job. Her job as a supervisor is to SUPERVISE, not tell everyone what to do. During our briefing she begins to indirectly "assure" me to do my job good, the job Iv been doing before she took over for another supe. She thinks that loading a plane is easy? She cant even drive the damn thing.... That began to piss me off. She has done this before to me and expects me to accept her advise. She says she respects me and that im a valuable asset to the company......BS. If im so respected why dosent she fricken back off and let me do my job. She knows that and yet she still badgers me. And I cant talk to that tida, every thing I say comes back as "well you know El, (insert lame ass excuse here)". Even though Im right she pulls something out of her a**. For instance, we have some chukkese working for us and they can sit in the office till the flight comes down and when I bring it up shes like "well some people have to be told what to do" Im like wtf?? They've been here longer than me and still dont know how to do their job??? SO DAMN IRRITATING!!! Ive talked to the general manager and he knows about this also. Thing is that it seems hes not doing much about it ether. Though I respect him because he actually listens and offers sane advise. As soon as I can get another job I probably will quit. Mein Gott, grr.

That sucks man. I know the feeling. My former boss' wife had the same type of 'power trip'. She went off on me a couple times screaming & sweaing @ me for God knows what. I let it go the first time because I really didn't feel like getting into an argument with someone that didn't want to hear a word I had to say. Well, the second time just pushed me over the edge. I ended up saying a few things that shouldn't be said to the bosses wife. (Damn! That felt unEFFINbelievable! ) After some not so nice words were exhcanged between us, she storms into the office demanding that I be fired on the spot. He was clueless to what was going on and tried to calm her down to get the situation under control. She wasn't hearing it. After about an hour of her throwing a mean tantrum in the office, he asked me to leave. He called me later on that day & told me to take a couple of weeks off (with pay) so that she could mellow out. When I returned to work, appologies were exchanged and we went about as if nothing happened. She still had her moments after that but none of them were directed towards me.
I'm not saying you should go that route though. It could have cost me my job. Luckily my boss was cool about it and he knew how she could get at times. Good luck to you though. I hope things work out in your situation.

Elway, it's very difficult to find a fair, ethical supervisor in this world. Believe me when I say that i have worked for many companies in the past. Before being transferred to my current department, i think i have to say i worked for the worst boss ever. But in my large company, she was "untouchable". No one wanted her job, it's a very stressful, thankless job. One of her supervisors quit, and it took 1 1/2 years for an applicant to apply. She would swear at you, make you do the work that 2-3 people normally get paid to do, make mandatory overtime, so you'd work 6-7 days a week. Sit her down, and discuss what you feel the problems are, and let her know that if you are not satisfied with an answer, you will want a response from a higher position than her. Don't forget it is very important to go up the chain of command. Talk to her, then her boss, etc. Go as high as you need to.
They will fall back on that if you do not do this.
Also, documented incidents look really good. Write down the date and time of occurences, what happened, and who, if anyone was there.
And best of all, good luck.

I say this with an admission that I was once a supervisor. But in all honesty, a supervisory position is probably the worst position to have. You should feel happy that you're anything but a supervisor. Supervisors in general are usually the ones that are constantly having to defend their positions, their workload, their work ethic and their overall orderly skill, and as often is the case, they're the first to get canned or disciplined. They're normally underpaid for the stress they put up with, and they're always trying to convince themselves that they're not hated, or that they don't care if they are hated.
You should probably reinterpret her actions as reactionary and simply an assertion of power in a situation where she knows she has no control over. Sometimes supervisors will tell people what to do simply because they know they lack any real power in their daily lives.
If you really want to be mean, you should leave a post it note on her desk asking the question "How much do you get paid to be hated every day?"

Ewww obviously you dont understand what a tida is...
I believe it's spelled Tita...:D
Tita can be used to define any girl. how like sister is used. TIDA is used for someone who grew up on the westside or generally acts like a B**** 24/7.
Keianakoa, I feel your pain. If I would go off on her I would loose big time, just because she is a tida and I wouldent be able to get a word in anyway.
Jimi, that sucks man. Let it all out here. Vent a little.
End her. Plain and simple. She must disappear.

Chris and Reid, I do understand that being a supervisor is a PITA. Though in my situation it seems that shes only supervising the people lower on the totem pole. The micronesians that were here longer than me seem to get away with everything. They dont do their job, chew ****ing betelnut, and run away just to name a few while the rest of us are setting up the gate, grabbing mail/cargo, and running the bag room. Yet she still has the nerve to assure the guys lower on the seniority list how to do our job.

She clearly is a little person, by little I mean afraid, homely, and insecure. So when she sees a chance to give orders she chooses the hardest working individual so it makes her feel more powerful and gives her a false sense of confidence. If anything I would feel sorry for her that she is so insecure about herself that she feels the need to bash on the good people in her organization.
If you do end up quitting, before you do confront her and explain how sorry you feel for her that she has to act this way. That will make so much more of a impact than yelling or berating her ever could because she knows the truth in it, it will hurt her soul.

yep.
this explains "control freaks".
when they don not get the respect they hunger for, the ego's ultimate weapon, anger, engages. it is a defense mechanism against feelings of vulnerability. anger is the illusion of control that makes them feel powerful, when in fact they are out of control. and the less control people have over themselves, the more they try to control the lives of others. they need to be in charge of something, and since they cannot get traction in their own lives, they seek to do it through influencing the lives of others. these people are often well meaning. they do want to help. they just come off a bit insistent and pushy because their ego needs for them to be effective. and that can only happen if you take their advice.
unfortunately.
good luck to you el. cuz there wasnt a job i've had where there wasnt at least one bad apple to spoil the bunch.

she's right some people are just not self starters. with that being said those individuals should have been counseled on their lack of performance and fired if desired results weren't achieved. if you feel you are being discriminated you need get proof and report it. keep a log book of some sort.
also it sounds like she is a mico manager. I say pull her to the side and tell her how you feel. there is always reasoning behind when a supervisor wants something done a certain way. for example safety. don't be disrespectful just tell her how you feel. also if you have an issue have a way to solve it. nothing pisses me off more than when someone has an issue but has no solution for it. so basically all they do is b*tch......well GL and I hope everything works out

Kekeke you called her a "micro manager" +40 for that joke. On a serious note though, everybody has to do a certain job depending on what the "manpower" dictates. We as ramp workers work under a ramp lead and they work under the supervisor. It is up to the ramp lead to utilize his workers properly, not the job of the supervisor. Of course if they see that something jeopardizes safety and the aircraft, they have the authority to step in and correct/discipline the individual. But this one particular supe just runs the show completely. It just irritates the hell out of me because we get confused on who's orders to take. I have met with the general manager, human resources, and our ramp manager on this subject before and offered couple solutions to this problem. Problem is that the supe in question is totally opposed to change. When I try to talk to her, but the out come is always, "well you know Al", "well that's different", or she just completely lies about it. Now I dont even bother with it.

your right sometimes it is hard when you have more chiefs than indians. in my Commo shop I am at the top with 3 team leaders directly working for me and each of them have about 3 or 4 soldiers each. as the NCOIC of the shop I manage the shop as a whole and delegate/empower my SGT's on the daily tasks at hand. i will admit I have in the past have gone straight to the jr soldiers and told them how i would like a specific task done and usually my SGT's will ask me to step aside and let them handle it.

I know you may not see it the same way, but i miss the military ways sometimes. Respect is given by rank, not necessarily earned. Jess, I don't mean you, i mean saluting rank, and not the person. We used to see an officer carrying a load of junk, and stood and made him salute, he 'd get pissed, drop all his stuff, and return the gesture. I did this as an enlisted though. I learned after that, when people did that to me. Ahh good times.....
