i want to hook up a light to the dash lights, so it can be dimmed with the interior, it is a boost cage, i just need to know what wire to connect the hot to, or is there more to it, if the negative is the wiring being dimmed.
an help or a quick wire guide some where would help, of if anyone has done it what did you do, thank you.

sounds like you're looking for the "illumination" wire. If you pull up your clock pod it'll be labeled on the clock harness. However, I don't know if it'd be the same color wire used through the entire car.

The dimming circuit in Subarus is fixed positive, variable negative. Most electrical gauges use a common ground for both signal and lighting and are therefore incompatible with this type of system. If you have such a gauge, the only way to make it dimmable is to add a circuit that inverts the polarity of the dimming voltage. Otherwise you have to connect it to the parking light circuit and have fixed level illumination.
If your gauge is mechanical and has only a connection for lighting, then you can connect it to the dimming circuit directly.

it is just a bulb in the gauge, that is the only power needed in it.
i will look at the clock tommorrow, thanks, if there is any one else all info is appreciated.
