you might want to check out plug and play hid kits, its much, much cheaper than getting the whole assembly.

yes they are basically plug and play. although if you want to use the motorized levelers you need to buy the switch and wire that up yourself. I had a retrofit kit and then went with sti HIDs. I am MUCH MUCH happier with the beam pattern and visability of the sti lights

so should I head over to subaru and ask some questions? I can pick up a set for 200 but if its easier to get the kits where can I get em at? And how much are they?

I was thinking about getting an HID kit off of ebay sometime in the near future..should be about 100 bucks and would last about a year or so..and there's a bunch of lighting sites you can visit to check out their HID kits but i forgot what sites they were..I'll ask my boy and get back to you on that if you want..but for now, just browse around ebay and random sites for HID kits..

The HID kits do not give a good spread of light. They are bright, but not effective. The only way that the aftermarket kids work well is with the projector style of headlight as found in the 02 STi and the 06+ WRX/STi.

I did the 03-05 conversion to my bug STi so I don't have projector headlights any more, but there's no way I would fit the HID aftermarket kit. Get the Sylvania Silverstar bulbs if you want really good, yet very white low beam light.
