so i might get to return to Hawaii.
Job offer on the big island. I remember
that housing being higher than main land.
so I am looking at least a 3 bedroom, 2 bath.
how much am i looking at?

www.davidkucic.com my pops has a page somewhere on his website that will allow you to look at all the listings on the big island. it should give you an idea of what you're looking at. if i remember correctly, he said that the houses are a little cheaper on the big island as opposed to oahu. not by much though!

Housing is less expensive on the BI than most of the islands.
We decided to move to another island once I am done with grad school so last time we were on the BI we actually looked around. From what we looked at in Kailua-Kona you are starting in the $400,000, more likely a lil higher. Hilo is a lil less expensive than Kailua-Kona. They are building a lot up in Waimea (I think D R Horton is the developer) but that is too far of a drive from either KK or Hilo to commute. The least expensive area is Puna (closer to Hilo) and that also has the highest crime rate.
Remember if you see a price that looks too good to be true it means you are in a high risk volcanic zone. Also, most of places I looked at in the southern part of the island use catch rain water as your only water supply.
