I am torn between the cobb and the perrin catbacks for the WRX. Have not heard soundclips of either. I want something that really give the car the sound it deserves without being obnoxious.

I have a 03 wrx with a Perrin exhaust.....it is friggin' LOUD. Based on what you said I would go for the Cobb. Sounds really nice, and not as loud as the Perrin.

I hear what you are saying, but the Perrin exhaust for the 08 is a totally different design. I am waiting for a soundclip from their shop

I'd go with the TurboXS, i really like the stock look, but I'm not a fan of the 2.5 inch pipe. I/m going with the Perrin. I'll post up clips when I have it.

Stupid ass prices and ugly setups or pieced together Magnaflows are all that's out right now for the STi.

I have the Cobb Tuning catback exhaust on my car.
I love the sound and the quality of the construction.
It is made of stainless steel and the fitment is perfect too.
Very nice peice and well worth the money.

Well, I ordered the Perrin unit today. I have a feeling I am going to like it. The exhaust I had on my bugeye gave it an aggressive and unique note, I also never saw it on another car. Hopefully this will unit will do the same. I should have it by next week....

I'm about half way done makin my cat-back.
I have Megan Racing headers and a MadDad downpipe, apparently the first one for the 08s
So far its loud, but I don't have a muffler on there yet.

I have a Perrin dual tip axle back on my '08 STi, stock everything else. It's deeper and louder when driving around on the streets than I expected. There's a faint "airy" drone in the background on the freeway at 6th gear 60mph and up -- I like it, but I wish it had "more tone" (yes, having a hard time putting it into words :laugh: )

It's funny though how it sounds very different inside vs. outside. I had my gf do some revving for me, it had "more tone" and less deeper than what I hear from inside the car. I'll ask her to do a driveby for me when we get some free time.

I went in for my first oil change and walked out with a SPT CBE. It was such an impulse buy as I was waiting. I do notice a little loss in low end, but an increase in high end. Is there a way to get some of the low end back?

i was thinking of going perrin myself but after seeing a few earlier model WRX/STIs i might consider welding on some straight pipes with a perrin downpipe. im looking to get more info for the 09 WRX sedan, anyone have anything? maybe an exhaust diagram or a feedback on why i should or shouldnt go that route?
