Ok... F all this bull****! Ive been working in the Sierra College Financial Aid Department for a little over a year in a half.
This other guy "retard" had been working there longer but doesnt know jack! He is CONSTANTLY making mistakes on SIMPLE tasks required for the job (taking in students paperwork, taking phone calls, SHOWING UP AT WORK) kind of thing.
Well long story short is that he is a foster youth and everyone feel bad for him (not to **** anyone off that was a foster youth or anything). They baby him like i have never seen before! He only works 16hrs a week (3-7pm, our slowest time of the day) and its just rediculous with the stuff he pulls.
He either doesnt show up to work, goes out to lunch with staff while supposed to be working and helping us, comes up with the lamest excuse to not show up (oh im getting kicked out of the dorms and have to move into an apartment so im calling in today to pack even tho its not for 2months), when hes there he doesnt work, disapears for and hour at a time, doesnt help other workers....
Our supervisor dont think that he does anything wrong and thinks he knows all his crap. Our manager has taken him WHILE ON THE CLOCK and BOUGHT items for his new apartment. I dont have anything personaly against the guy, but he doesnt do jack and doesnt know what hes doing there! So we get this exact email from our manager today:

Back in early Nov 07 we had been approved to hire a temporary employee (40 hours per week) to perform some functions while we bring our new software online – Banner. We hired **** in this role but she wasn’t able to give us 40 hours per week due to her school, family, life schedule. To fill the other half of the approved position we have hired "retard" – he will start on July 1, 2008. Both temporary hires will have a primary function of performing verifications with a smattering of other duties as assigned.
I have an appointment with the furniture guy to discus reconfiguring the desk that ***** currently sits at so that we can accommodate "retard"s hire.
Both appointments will last about 15 months.
SOOOOOO..... he gets a Staff position!!!! WTF! he doesnt know how to take in documents let alone be capable of verifying someones financial aid.
What makes it worse is that the position was NEVER talked about. They did not let anyone else apply, it was just "Oh we created this position and gave it to him".
Majority of the office was pissed and one girl started cussing and had to leave she was so mad.
They feel bad for him and continue to baby him. I think that once he is FINALLY out of that office he is going to have a very rude awakening to the world and how much the world does not give a flying **** that you were a foster youth!

that freaking blows. what a ****ing douce bag. i would be so pissed. i know you work for a school but isnt there an HR you can go to. that seems so messed up. there has to be something you can do

I wrote our manager back saying that myself and two others would like to sit down with her and talk about his recent hire. If she blows us off I am going to the dean.

this clearly has not happened.
One way that organizations attempt to avoid this effect is to refrain from promoting a worker until he or she shows the skills and work habits needed to succeed to the next higher job.

Find the post where i said we were stamping envelopes cuz our new employees wernt writing the numbers on them. 500 in a box and something like 13 boxes.. come on, that is redik. Ill do it but when there isnt anything left ill mess around.
