DLP and LCD > plasma in my opinion. theres one of each in the house. DLPs are cheaper and HD programming looks more "natural" (best way i can describe it). LCDs are lighter, more tolerant of abuse, and use less power than DLP or plasma.
Pros/cons
DLP
pros: cheap, good picture quality, fast input switching, excellent refresh rate
cons: limited mounting ability, can me noisy (fans), poor viewing angles.
Plasma
pros: great picture and color quality (especially black), cheaper than LCD in most cases, good mounting ability
cons: heavier than granite, screens easily damaged, radiates more heat than my oven
LCD
pros: best picture and color quality of the bunch, mount anywhere you want, light weight, stand up to abuse
cons: price goes up rapidly with features, cheap models have poor contrast ratios, poor selection in the 38-44inch range
