It pays homage to all the previous Macross series here and there. cannibal869 05-01-2008, 04:07 PM Huh, will have to check out Macross Frontier then :) For me: Ghost in the Shell (the 2nd one was a little...different) Wicked City Ranma 1/2 Macross (and all the takeoffs of it) Ninja Scroll Battle Angel Alita (I think) then there was that really perverted one with all the demons having sex with the hot anime chicks...can't remember the name - really long and strange sounding. ;) Hollandaze 05-01-2008, 06:22 PM then there was that really perverted one with all the demons having sex with the hot anime chicks...can't remember the name - really long and strange sounding. ;) That really doesn't narrow it down much. :eyebrows: However, you might mean this one (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urotsukidoji). cannibal869 05-01-2008, 07:10 PM yeah, that's the one :D Choku Dori 05-01-2008, 08:09 PM "Classic" anime movies, right? I have all the Star Blazers and Macross series on DVD. I used to jam home from school each day to watch Star Blazers when I was a kid. :) Gatchaman/Battle for the Planets/G Force is being remade for the big screen. It's being made by Americans using the Gatchaman name that was never used in the US - go figure. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0818257/ av98 05-02-2008, 12:34 AM Porco Rosso Castle of Cagliostro Macross- Do you Remember Love? NinjaPhish 05-02-2008, 11:54 PM For Me Neon Genesis Evangelion Akira Steamboy Ghost in the Shell Gundam, Zeta Gundam, Stardust Memory, Chars Counterattack, 08th MS, War in the Pocket. (Yea I like Gundam) Ranma 1/2 Rurouni Kenshin + Samurai X movies Almost all of Miyazaki's work. Hollandaze 05-03-2008, 02:34 AM Oh man, I just remembered one more that I really liked. It's one of the few CLAMP related projects that I'm familiar with and gleefully watched. X The Movie, fuggin' awesome. Since there's a lot of Gundam mentioned here. About a month ago, the first half of Gundam 00 (episodes 1-25) just finished airing. That was an AWESOME Gundam series and exceeded my expectations (Gundam Seed Destiny was utter crap, IMO). It was directed by the same dude who directed Fullmetal Alchemist. I can't wait until the second half this fall. In the meantime, Code Geass R2 fills that time slot. A cookie goes to anyone who understood what the hell I just said. :nerd: av98 05-03-2008, 10:09 AM Oh yeah, forgot to mention the oldie non-movie soap opera stuff. Maison Ikkoku KOR Choku Dori 05-03-2008, 11:53 AM Speaking of Daikon. Hey, you seen Densha Otoko? Yeah, the intro tribute was pretty sweet! Oh, and Clamp stuff is for girls :p :D Choku Dori 05-03-2008, 11:54 AM aw man, everything you just said, and thanks for the vid, I was waiting to see what you'd post! Other's I like were: Gungrave (made after a video game, but very well done!) Berserk (you have to follow the manga after the anime leaves you hanging) Golden Boy (Bimo Baby!) Trigun huck 05-11-2008, 10:48 PM Finally saw Tekkon Kinkreet tonight on BlueRay... OMFG! Slots up there with GITS and Akira. Amazing, simply stunning. I rarely watch DVDs more than one time but I think I may have to sit on this for a few more viewings. So much to take in. Blown away. I rarely watch DVDs more than one time but I think I may have to sit on this for a few more viewings. So much to take in. Blown away. The creator of that film was at Anime Expo last year. They auctioned off signed sketches and artwork of his. The character designs looked a bit wacky to me, but I'll put it on my Netflix queue. The artwork for the backgrounds were quite impressive, however. gotrice? 05-12-2008, 12:01 AM ok heres mine Akira Evangelion Rurouni Kenshin (samurai x) Bubblegum Crisis Princess Mononoke Basilisk Gundam Chars Counterattack Yukikaze Karas Death Note Cowboy Bebop The movie Hellsing Ultimate OVA Blade of the phantom masters Macross series Patlabor Fushigi yugi Flame of recca Yuyu hakusho 5 centimeters (drama) voices from a distant star Macross Frontier well most of them are series but what the heck i forgot alot since ive been watching anime ever since i was a kid LoL oh Gundam 00 is by far the best Gundam series to date IMO its unpredictable the 2nd season will start in 5 months and code geass R2 already started :P JohnQGearhead 05-12-2008, 07:24 AM No one mentioned it yet? STi-owns-evo 05-13-2008, 10:13 PM man all you guys pics aint that old! Now I feel old :o My first anime I really like was robotech season 1. Is that old enough? haha Other than that, voltron (if you consider that an anime), full metal panic, ichigo 100% (yeah, it's kind of a perv anime), and probably other that I can't think of right now. strider327 05-13-2008, 10:18 PM Wrath Of The Ninja (Yotoden Movie) Street Fighter 2 Victory Ninja Gaiden (OVA) pwnx0rz 05-14-2008, 02:24 AM Hajime No Ippo!!! verc 05-14-2008, 09:04 PM I just watched the first 6 eps of Macross Frontier Haha I love it. Stereotypical mech anime FTW. - seemingly random high school kid (it has to be a high school kid), but it's revealed he actually has great potential. Throughout the series a hidden, dark secret past of his is hinted at. - After the pilot of a top secret craft is killed, he get in it and naturally is able to pilot it. All members of the top secret squadron marvel at his raw, but unrefined skill - The first time they meet the enemy, of course it is indestructible to all weapons, including rockets and machine guns. Of course, there's some dude with a badass sniper rifle who can blow them away with one shot. There's ALWAYS a dude with a badass sniper rifle. And of course, where advanced guns fail melee weapons slice through the enemy with ease - after the main character finds out about the secret force, it turns out his schoolmates are actually already in it - On his first training mission, the main character unexpectedly runs into a live enemy. Everyone tells him to run away, but somehow he goes berserk and defeats the enemy Holy **** I just described just about every anime made about powered suits/mechs/secret societies Those aliens that were impossible to kill the first few episode, you know by the end of the series they'll be killing like 50 of them with one shot LOL Choku Dori 05-14-2008, 09:10 PM ^^^ Don't forget "main character's best buddy gets killed", although that only happens about 80% of the time :D STI RUSH 05-14-2008, 09:27 PM Full Metal Panic. . .uh, initial d. . .akira. . .and more but i forgot. Hollandaze 05-15-2008, 12:14 PM ^^^ Don't forget "main character's best buddy gets killed", although that only happens about 80% of the time :D Yea, those "best friend" or "like a brother to me" types are always the first to die. It's always in a blaze of glory. Also, there's a love triangle brewing in Macross Frontier too between the "girl next door" type and the "OMG hawt" older chick. He has to choose, just like Hikaru in the original Macross (or most other anime with robots). Frontier is all the Macross thrown into one. The basic storyline is similar to the original. It's got the music (Yoko Kanno) and director (Shoji Kawamori is supervising) from Macross Plus. Music plays a huge role once again. The energy and spunk from Macross 7. Then all the up to date computer animation from Macross Zero. Choku Dori 05-15-2008, 08:41 PM ^^^ In a blaze of glory, plus the main character is powerless to do anything about it  |
