If I buy through subarugenuineparts.com and have the dealership install, that doesn't void my (limited) warranty, correct?
I've never owned a new car before, so please don't laugh at this question.

all SPT parts DO NOT void your warenty when installed by a dealer. Im not sure if you can do it your self or another shop and still be covered though.

Just so you know i talked to a service guy friday at the Subie dealership. Actually it is a BMW VW Subie dealership but anyway. Things like intake and exhaust DIY do not void your warranty. I have an anal dealership and they said it was fine. He said as long as you are not cracking the engine open for anything it is cool, and they have to be SPT parts. YOu can even order the parts from a diff place as long as the are genuine SPT parts. I have gone round and round trying to find this out and i am sure of it. I told him i thought that was funny cuz i cant change my own oil but i can install my own performance stuff. he laughed and said yes. He is a good guy and wouldnt steer me wrong so i pass his advice from me too you.

All K&N products are 100% warranty friendly too.

He is wrong.
You can change your oil. Or you can pay someone else to change your oil. And that does not void your warranty. BUT you need to document your oil changes and whatever other relevant services if you want to make a warranty claim. (i.e. if you have a differential problem, showing proof of 1000 oil changes is not going to help you, but receipts showing diff services will)

Good to hear that I could change my own oil. Took my car in for an oil change at the dealership and checked my oil and the level was at the twisted part above the last notch above full. Only other time it was at this level was when I bought the car. So weird that the dealership puts like 5 quarts +.
Has anyone else had problems with the dealerships over, over, and overfilling the oil?
