View Full Version : DO NOT go to Subaru of Sherman Oaks

My car was involved in collision and even after the fact my DCCD was still working. Well the body shop who put my car together obviously neglected something and it wasn't working. The rear indicator light on cluster was blinking so I told the guys at shop I can't drive this. I couldn't even set the settings to auto or manual.

I should've called my buddy up because he's a tech. He told me last night it should be fine. That said, I could've taken it to another dealer instead of these guys ( I had no choice because shop deals with this dealer ) and shop guy drove it there and I was forced to drive a POS Winstar to work they lent me.

I know the warranty is covered, I sold Subarus for 2yrs. Sure it's the shops fault for neglecting to wire it as the guy told me he found out from dealer there was a loose ground wire of some sort and they would be billed for $300.

Since I don't have to pay for it, it shouldn't be my concern but just the fact that if I had taken my car there myself, I would've been charge for it. Why because of fact that vehicle was involved in accident? DIAFF

My car was dropped off at 11 yesterday and shop guy told me it would take between 4-5hrs. It's nearing noon time...I wouldn't be surprised if my car's not ready by today.

Another time, the tech there put too much air pressure in my tires 40PSI all around. I should've known better than to go to a dealer that doesn't have high ratings from SOA much less a website.

All I wanted to do was have them check my alignment and it took well over 2hrs which understandable considering they're understaffed and had other vehicles to deal with. They were only working on 3 vehicles that day.

Just got back home not with the STi but with ES300. Shop won't release it now because they found out from dealer there's issue with ABS. Anyway, the owner said he'd call "the computer guy" so he can reset everything and it fixed.

I knew I should've spilled my bloody carcass because when I found out they were ordering parts from them I was afraid they would send it to shop for some work as well.

The shop guys were pissed that they paid $200-300 for NOTHING!
Add to that, the dealer was saying there's something wrong with differential and it's gonna cost 2-3k and it would take an hour to fix. But shop didn't let them. Thank God!

I even called a dealer earlier today because SM Subaru is closed. Dealer said "30k is free inspection you only pay for oil change." That said I told service advisor if they can check the car thoroughly cause i had some work done and I want a second opinion.

I advised the shop guys to call other dealers as the car is in fact still under warranty.

Oh again, **** Sherman Oaks.

BOB SAGET!!

Ok shop calls me and says that it is in fact the ABS unit throwing off the DCCD as they're interlinked. They're overnighting it ( from Santa Monica ) for additional $20 rather than reg shipping which they would get next monday. Car will be ready by 3 tomorrow. Also I told him that passenger front bumper near headlamp is a little off.

I just left VM with my supervisor as I have to work tomorrow at 2. Hopefully she calls me back because I want to have the car by tomorrow and have day off to inspect it all day or drive it rather than waking up early saturday just to pick up car and drive to work.

They're also getting their 200-300 back from Sherman Oaks as he spoke with manager.

*NOTE*

This pic was from wikipedia it is not mine

I just got back from sac last friday and I'm beat like a bloody meat.

I overslept and rather than being Sierra Subaru at 730A i was there at 11A. They didn't work on my car till 2P.

It was traffic going home and when i got home i waited for traffic to die down and left at 748p only to encounter the same traffic i had feared.

I woke up at 4a sunday and left quarter till 5 and then got to work at 1003A which was plenty of time as I start 1030.

Nearly got into collision as this douche signaled and went into my lane anyway ( there wasn't even room to move in ). It's like why bother signaling when you've no room and you merge int the lane anyway? http://images.honda-tech.com/set1/smile/emhammer.gif

I was falling asleep here and there at work i had to take a nap during break and lunch. I didn't even hit weights yesterday.

1 day 390 mi ( i don't know why I could swear this should be 408 miles ) to visit son. Hated the drive butt i loved every minute i spent with him.

It should've been friday-sunday morning butt the shop didn't replace the radiator with OEM ( i figure *****ing at them would be pointless so i drove 35 miles to dealer - rated "stellar performer" ).
Also I ordered misc. parts from them as I'm in no way giving business to sherman. I sure as hell hope the shop reimburse me like they said.

Now, it hit me. I'm missing more parts than I expected ( more like incorrect parts put together more like it )

I didn't get the bolt over the P/S pulley shield like I asked, the hook for the IC hose, and 2 grommets on both corner lamps.

Just above the grill there's 6 grommets that should be in place. The 2nd-3rd are correct pieces and everything else is wrong part attached to give appearance of excellent craftsmanship.

In hindsight, I should've called that dealer and asked if they've a collision centre in their shop because they in fact did :|

hi everyone. this is my first time on here and i was hoping to get some advice about going to this place for service...

i just moved out here from the east coast and my 07 wrx has been having an issue for nearly a year now. the piston keeps mis-firing (or so the dealerships keep telling me) every few months. i've taken my car, which i love, to the dealer i bought it from 2 or 3 times for the issue, then to the dealer in new orleans when it happened there and now this tuesday i have an appointment at shaver subaru for what i'd bet good money on is the same issue. issue with them is that i've seen a lot of negative postings about that dealership and the biggest problem is, NONE of the dealers have been able to fix the problem or even tell me WHY it's happening. i'm really nervous to bring it to shaver cuz i keep seeing a lot of negative reviews. i don't like shady behavior, especially when i've already paid $30k for the car not to mention what i've paid for the previous dealers to (not) fix the problem. i'm worried that if all the reviews at shaver are bad and those people are shady with sales what are they like with service??? it's bad enough that i'm a chick and, no offense guys, but mechanics love to take advantage of us women, but to also have this doubt... i don't know if i should cancel my appointment and go somewhere else? should i try sherman oaks? does anyone have a dealer they trust for their service?

i read that a guy from SCS would help out with stuff, but when i tried the number the phone just rang and rang. does anyone know if they are legit? i'd be willing to drive the distance if i know my car is in good hands.
i'd appreciate any advice, really really appreciate it.

thanks much & sorry for the car life story :)

ok, so i went to autozone and they told me the error code is P0304, a mis-fire of cylinder #4. i'm gonna scream. this is the same BS i've been dealing with for nearly a year. i'm so pissed right now. *deep breath*

ok, so i'll call up suby specialties.

if you have any other advice i'd love to hear it. thanks for this tho, big time.

OK thats a pretty bad drive but they are the best

the only other option is Renner motorsports they are in inglewood
310 673 8492
the guys name is Ivo (pronounced like Evo)
he does alot of subaru race stuff
I have met him a few times so you can say the guy from worldpac that offered to give you his SOHC heads.

so depends if you are OK with the drive or not.

i am assuming you have had the plugs replaced
the things you should ask for
compression test.
and check the coolant for oil.
It may be a coil but if you spent that much im assuming they replaced it (i have a new one laying around if you want to test it)

other than that i cant think of anything else

skydust
03-02-2009, 04:37 PM
i used to drive 100 miles one way to my job so distance isn't a problem for me if i'm getting the best work.

i had the spark plugs replaced when the dealer did the required maintenance, i think it was at the 60k mark.

i don't know if they replaced any coil. i don't recall it ever being mentioned. but i'll bring it up when i drop the car off, along with the compression test and oil in the coolant you mentioned. my "home" dealer mentioned the compression test the last time it happened in connecticut, but it was the day i was driving down to new orleans before coming here and they said it would take a long time & cost a lot. plus they thought it was just bad gas so they had me get octane boost & try that.

my only concern is that if i bring it to a place outside a dealership i won't have as much leverage. i don't think i should have to pay for any of this to be done and if they can't fix it or even tell me why it's happening then it should be replaced right? how would i handle something like that at suby specialties? i don't want to screw them over when it's the dealers that are F'ing with me ya know?

sigma pi
03-02-2009, 04:48 PM
OH i assumed you were out of warrenty sorry
i thoguth that much driving you wuold be done with the factory warrenty

then yes go to the dealer make them fix it

suby specialties would charge
