subie OCD 12-01-2007, 02:13 PM BTW this car absolutely rips, especially in the cold weather!
I put on my winter wheels with all season tires and the car is mean, burning rubber every chance I get...hahahaha
03_Impreza_Al 12-01-2007, 02:17 PM grats I needs me a 2.5 block.
VRT MBasile 12-01-2007, 02:21 PM nice numbers Matt, are you going to Rally-X it next season?
subie OCD 12-01-2007, 02:26 PM nice numbers Matt, are you going to Rally-X it next season?
Thanks :D RallyX was fun and all but Im not going to put this car through the abuse of off road like I did my old wrx. Its too much time/money/effort to deal with the suspension and alignment issues.
Although I will still take it to the occasional dirt lot...actually there is a nice hill nearby thats been begging me to climb it ;)
theo79 12-02-2007, 06:28 PM nice numbers!
im getting tuned by Ed on wednesday
:invasion:
WrbImprezaSti 12-02-2007, 06:39 PM thats some nice numbers, hopefully i can find me a apv1 for fairly cheap so i can get my car tuned.

Have one for an 06 STI but not 05... I might be able to get it converted by Cobb if you want it.
WrbImprezaSti 12-04-2007, 08:25 AM how much would it be?
EQ Tuning 12-04-2007, 02:02 PM how much would it be?
If I have to send it in to Cobb, it'll be $350.
Thanks
WrbImprezaSti 12-05-2007, 03:52 PM when u said standard 2.5" axleback are you referring to a stock axle back?
subie OCD 12-05-2007, 06:41 PM Its the standard TXS muffler...possibly made by Magnaflow? Here are some pics when it was brand new:
The TurboXS system is a 4" DP, hiflow cat, 3" midpipe and 2.5" muffler

I'm kinda curious to go to the strip also now that I have 6MT. I still can't get used to beating on it :D

Sacramento Raceway is open Saturdays for Test and Tune, 12-4, $50. I figure the cold weather would be ideal and I could use all the help I can get
Whats the best way to launch? Bounce the RPMS ~ 5500 rpms then dump/slip the clutch? I have the all seasons on now so the tires burn rubber pretty easy.

well since your on all seaon tires now. which is a plus on drag racing with the power you have or any stock turbo power on the track. i say lower the psi to 30psi cold temp. launch it like drop it like haft way at the same time catch it by slipping it, its very hard to explain. but if your really serious about launching. let me know will try to reply better write up.
heres me launching on my 04 STi. with just TBE and loud BOV.
you would be launching alot lower since your making more power now

Whoa, good advice, I practiced the other day and it launched so hard I got butterflies in my stomach, it felt like a damn rollercoaster  I think 4500-5100 is my sweet spot.
Thanks!

full write-up please, with a definition of "slipping the clutch" for us noobians
subie OCD 02-05-2008, 06:44 PM What he means by "slip the clutch" is you slowly release the clutch (while you pulsate the rpms) until you feel (or pretty sure) the clutch is engaged then you pull your leg away from the clutch as fast as you can and floor the gas. Ed described it to me as stepping in dog crap....pretty good analagy actually.
That make sense? Its more of a slip/dump of the clutch than a slip.

yep, best way I can describe it.
when you step in dog ****. but you don't have to say "****" when you launch
