carbon fiber trunk for 02-03 wrx
I'm not a vendor I'm just a nasioc member interested in a trunk for my own car...and I actually found someone able to do one for me...but they require sort of a groupbuy because the mould will cost a fair bit of money...

Just wondering who's interested...

Here's the website...they actually in the midst of updated their website...

http://www.carbonfibrefx.com/

they told me approx 540USD+shipping each for a trunk to be made for 5 ppl...or 510USD for 6 or more trunks...

the more people the cheaper it is....

Like I said I'm not a Vendor but just someone that wants his carbon trunk and doesnt feel like paying 1000 USD from Monster for one....

"Hello Daven,

The process is as follows. We will take a mold form the hood and use a roll over edge as I spoke to you today. This will allow the hood to be an exact fit like stock. Most hoods on the market have no roll over edge. We will have to make an inner liner for the hood as well. All the holes (most) will be filled and have a nice smooth finish like the inner sides of our hoods.
The key hole would be something we can modify as well.
The layers of fiberglass depends on the application it is for.

We use 2 layers of mat 1 OZ for inner liners of a hood and an extra reinforcement for the gas struts.
In the mold we lay 2 x 2 3k x 3k 5.7 OZ Twill weave then a 1 OZ or 1.5 OZ (depending on what we decide) on top.It will kick / or harden
Both are then bonded together.
A process of making an inner takes more time than the top because of the filling of all holes. Also because we drill and tap the screw holes for easy mounting.

I hope this information will help you a little more.

Best Regards

Duane"
