Has anybody done anything other than Hood pins with the aftermarket CF hood?

I just put on my new hood and I really don't want to put on Hood pins. I know they are important and can stop the hood from lifting off.. I was thinking of using another sort of "insurance" against the hood flying off:

Could I just instal a Hood gas strut to stop the hood flying off?
Could I use Straps on the inside of hte hood?

Anything else????

Have you considered Dzus fasteners?

Probably just go the safe route and Hood pin didn't want to but I guess I just have too :(
