I got an 06sti with a deadbolt 20g turbo with all the supporting mods... I have an invidia v2 dp with a catless vibrant 3inch exhuast.. Would it benifit me to put a 4inch exaust from the catback??? Also would that make it sure more flames than it already does... thanks

Are you running a BOV, if so thats most of your cause of shooting flames. As for 4 inch, I believe stickin with 3 inch is perfect still for your setup!

First off, are you tuned? Shooting flames is not a good thing. Personally, I think a three inch exhaust should be fine. If you feel like you need bigger, APS makes a 3.5 inch and that should more than suffice.

A 4inch would be way too big, too much air would be let loose from the motor. You need that back pressure to support the "push" you get from the motor.

TurboXS downpipe is 4"

I think the TurboXS is the only bolt-on 4" downpipe (i.e. not custom fabbed)....APS makes a 3.5". 3" is the standard size and works fine.

That tapers to what though?
You can't use txs components with other brands though. That makes it lame as **** in my opinion and is the reason nobody uses then anymore. I can't name anyone that uses a UTEC anymore.

I am going to run UTEC on my impreza. UTEC is outdated but when using a JDM ecu you can use only ECUtek or UTEC. what I am going to do is have my ecu flashed with ecutek first then later on instal and have the utec tuned so I can have the benifits of the Utec and the reliability of the Ecutek.

i have the stealthback and it's 4" at the turbo and it gets massive flows! Although, it tapers down to 3" in the end
4" is too big IMO, but will come in handy when u go really big!

WTF???
3" will be fine. For turbo really the bigger the better. Its just whether or not you can deal with the noise.

Even 3 in os overkill unless ure turbo is off a Kenworth. Cats stop the flames! Running catless means a lil flame poppin is inevetable but depending on the length of the burst could mean ur runnin rich.

Where are you guys getting all this bunk information from?? I had NO issues or problems with the 4" downpipe.
For all the naysayers here is my 2004 STi, road tuned by Ed @ eq tuning:
Mods:
2004 STi
TurboXS turbo back with cat and standard muffler
APS turbo inlet hose
APS TGV deletes
Walbro fuel pump
SPT heat shield & trimmed stock shield
SPT radiator shroud
APV1 EQ custom road tune, CA 91 octane.
294 tq @ 4050 rpm
272 hp @ 5930 rpm
For the record Eds road dyno software rates stock STis at 215-225whp and he even commented that my car was really strong for a catted setup.
I also had no problems on my ecutek tune by Mike with the same exhaust on my old stage 2+ bugeye.
That tapers to what though?

My exhaust is a 4" downpipe, 3" midpipe, high flow cat and 2.5" axleback. It flows tons and is quiet. And whos talking about the UTEC?? If you dont want to tune yourself dont buy it! This exhaust is 3yrs old, fits perfect and sounds great. Im sorry you have issues with TurboXS.
In the end -- A PIPE IS A PIPE! As long as it flows, fits and sounds the way you like it, you cant really go wrong with an aftermarket exhaust.
