how fast are you wanting to go?

Whatever you do I suggest a Cobb AccessPort (engine management) which can switch maps and allows the EM to grow with the mods.

A good basic setup would be a catless up-pipe, an aftermarket downpipe (catted or catless), and a Cat-Back exhaust. After that, get a custom tune (called a protune) for the AccessPort

MBasile pretty much sumed it up. For beginning mods stage 2 is the route to go. EM and Full Turboback exhaust. Tuning can wait if you upgrade the turbo.

Tuning can actually be quite beneficial even with a stock car. After going to Stage 2 (turboback exhaust) I'd definitely get tuned. The AccessPort actually comes with a Stage 2 map, although its not nearly as good as a ProTune, but it is still better than untuned.

You're also in such a great area for tuning that you'd be crazy not to get tuned. There's Mike at GST and Ed of EQTuning. Theres debate between the two, but they each say the other is a great tuner (I think Ed still offers road tuning which is awesome)

I just installed an invidia downpipe and already had an spt catback. flashed to stage two and it made a big difference! i plan on getting on uppipe soon which should help out a ton! but seriously i wouldnt get cobb unless you have some money to spend. there really is not too much difference in downpipes between the invidia and cobb and helix. i went with invidia cause it was cheaper and still had good reviews. the cobb accessport is a must and i would recommend that as the first thing you get. just get a version one on ebay for cheap. any uppipe will work that is catless. uppipe downpipe and accessport is what you'll want and you will be pushing almost 300 h.p. i spent $800 for everything to make sixty horses. not bad

You're insane if you think you can make 300hp on the stock turbo and intercooler with just an up-pipe and downpipe and an accessport. Cobb's own numbers on this are in the 270-280 range. 30hp less is not "almost."
