Want to break the lease on my 2.5i and buy a WRX
OK, I love my 06 2.5i that I am leasing but want to upgrade to purchase a WRX. My 2.5i has 10,000 miles on it. Am i going to get killed for trading my lease early in order to purchase a 2007 WRX? I plan on using the same dealership I have the lease with to purchase the WRX.
You are one of the many that want to get out of their leases.
I am sure Subaru would only charge you a fee for terminating
your lease early and give you discounts, bonuses, and incentives for trading
a Subaru for a Subaru. One of my good friends just bought a brand
new 07 WRX and he just loves it.Just go to your local Subaru Dealership and
talk to them about it.Go for it if you have your heart set
on a 07 WRX!

I have 10,000 miles therefore I hope the termination fee is no more than $2,000. Then again I would be giving them $26000 for a WRX (I hope they take this into consideration). I should have went WRX in the beginning.
Live and learn.Just never sign a lease again that's all.
They probably will not charge you anymore than 1-2K
for the termination fee.In my opnion it's worth it if you are
upgrading to a 07 WRX.Buying your cars is alot more logical
instead of leasing and never owning anything or having to
wait two years or longer to have the option to buy.
Go down to the Subaru Dealership first thing tomarrow and
see what happens. The best of luck with the trade.

A good dealership will work with you, taking into consideration that you want to buy a new car from them. Bear in mind that the dealership doesn't pocket $26,000 (or whatever the current WRX goes for) in profit when you buy a WRX. It's probably less than a grand or two in net profit.

I agree, I like the 2.5i well enough that I'm sure I will not regret buying the WRX. Hopefully since I am sticking with the same dealership, they won't rape me on a lease termination fee.

Just got off the phone with insurance company, keep in mind I have no points and over 25yo, I would have to pay at least an extra $1000 a year in insurance compared to my 2.5i. I live right outside of Newark where there is a very high theft rate of WRXs as a result killing insurance. I think I'll keep the 2.5i.

Newark was the stolen car capital in the late 80s when everybody was driving IROC camaros and 5.0 Mustangs. Things quited down in the 90s and now it looks like WRXs and STIs are causing a surge in theft. I even told my insurance rep I only drive 7 miles to work.
